I am sorry that you have had to say goodbye to your ladies. I imagine it is a little lonely at times. I cannot imagine not having mine. :hugs :hugs :hugs

I hope you continue to check in here but truly understand if it does not feel right. I have enjoyed having you as a part of the tribe.
I'd like to remain part of the tribe, if that's okay. I'm sure I'll continue to read about you all. I've not been a prolific poster, but if you miss a few days of reading, you're in for it! :gig

The 3 brahmas are a light, middle and dark tone from the group. now I'm wondering if the light one is actually a light brahma.
I'd be curious to see if one is a roo. I don't know if they have different coloring as chicks like barred rocks can. BRs aren't technically sex linked, but supposedly an experienced person 🧐can tell with about 80% accuracy if a chick is a pullet or a cockerel by the size of the yellow dot on their head. (@CrazyChookChookLady ), I wonder if Roos tend to be lighter (or darker) as chicks?? 🤔 I'm going to guess that the really light one will turn out to be a cockerel....you'll have to let me know in a few weeks if s/he is acting cockerel like or not!!:idunno

P.S. My light Brahma chicks always had yellowish fluff...but they were hatchery stock, so probably not necessarily perfectly true to form.

I am sure everyone will agree you should check in regularly - you are an experienced chicken person and might have some wisdom for us less experienced 🤗

Not exactly. I was planning on a broody, with eggs from my MIL so I could get another giant rooster (and bielefelders as she has them too). they had 2 (that's TWO) of the breeds I've been wanting and one was feather footed which my son had requested when we got the giants. The feather footed didn't hatch out enough so the hatchery subbed the partridge rocks instead. he's been patient for 2 years, helped with the chickens, had the mystery assortment arrive, again no feathered feet, no complaints. Couldn't say no to all of that (it's why there's 3 of them)
Sounds like a really good son...and a sweet mom to recognize and reward that patience!

These are hatchery stock (didn't ask which one). The top 3 are the brahmas. Middle is the australorp and the bottom 2 snuggled up against him are the sussex.

The right most brahma is already demonstrating good bug hunting skills. The middle one is the light one, and the australorp is hopefully a roo (watched the lot of those for a while: picked that one due to stance: more chest out when stopping to look around). We watched all of them for a while before choosing birds.

Well the girls are tucked up in the hen house, I had to haul Misty off the top of the door again, and Dorothy has taken to roosting on the stall wall so hauled her down and stuck her in the hen house also.

Some maneuvering going on with finding a roosting spot now that the boys are gone.
Nice to have them in the coop. I have to wait another 45 minutes or so. I would love to have mine back in the coop now too!

If you can catch her defecating, are her poops runny/watery, how old is she, and is she laying larger than usual eggs?

I'm not an eggs-pert...just have hypothesis that may/may not be founded.
She's 4 and there's been no recent change in the frequency or size of her eggs. Her poops have always been on the loose side because she drinks so much, but I haven't seen her drop a poop lately.
