Hi Cashew! :frow
My Mom bought my hens a big bag of raisins and they absolutely love them! I give them a handful every now and again during the winter, but all of my friendly girls jump up on my lap and pull on my sleeve to remind me about the raisins whenever I sit down. They are addicted!!
I didn't know they could have raisins, this is useful to know, I always have loads in stock for cooking and the little snack boxes for the kids.

Yep the two best ways to kill Aloe… overwatering it and freezing it. I’ve done both too. I am really good with African violets of all things, and was even propagating them by seed and playing with different aspects of their genetics as a teenager. (I guess genetics has always been an interest of mine…) I just put one on the shopping list for DH… 😂. Our cats used to eat all houseplants, regardless of cat grass availability etc, so it’s been years since I’ve had a proper house plant. Therefore, I am incredibly proud of this little one having survived both the cat and the goatling since early October 2021. I bought it from one of the last outdoor markets, hid it in the back top corner of my bookshelf, and just found it again in February… it’s liking the light, and luckily I kept our indoor temperatures above freezing inside all winter! It lives…View attachment 3025909
I have one that looks exactly like this. I have quite a few succulents, the cats don't seem that interested in them, they keep going after my onion seedlings on the windowsill though for some reason (didn't think they would like the smell) and any "normal" leafy plants. I would love an African violet but haven't come across any around here.

My Penny layed her first egg yesterday 👏 . It's so much heavier than my banty eggs 😂.

There is so much to catch up on after a few days of not getting on here much 😯.

Precious nutrients from our girls. We just got to love them. Their little personalities and their crafty little ways are so amusing.

Awww… I’m sorry you had to make this tough decision. It looks like Maryanne is having a good start at her new place!
I'm 🙏 she's going to be eased in, not just put amongst a new tribe that may attack her.
I've learned since being here it takes time for them to adjust and get used to each other. She has taken a lot of losses losing her feathered family and now her human family that she clearly felt safe with

My tribe are cleverer than I gave them credit for. Today it's princesses turn to wait for treats, she hollers and is there right now. Yesterday it was Agatha, she just waits by my kitchen window and stares through everytime she hears me in the kitchen, Tina will shout out from the top of my gate and flexi much the same as Agatha, she waits.

As for patrols during the night that's usually princess or Agatha, they stay near the door in their coop.
My girls are really organised bless their little hearts 🐔🐔🐔🐔
