They make it SO easy… really

Build a better fence… solid wood high enough to stop anyone from bothering the sweet little guy
@featherhead007 it will suck for the kind chicken friendly neighbours, but I cannot stand those who torment or tease animals 😡😡😡 this is why I replaced the chain link in our yard for the city house, well that and so we would have a little more privacy as we were a corner lot on a somewhat busy by pedestrians street.

Very cost prohibitive! $$$:(
I’m actually entertaining the idea of moving to my other property. (Where Chaco is) and I have no neighbors close by there. Except that I have a renter on that property. I don’t know, I’m confused about the whole situation.

If we could, we would mill you some lumber for it, but they also don’t like that travelling across the border. We have a friend in Seattle that built a fence with lumber from our mill, but had a heck of a time going through Customs with it, they are quite picky about wood species because of the pine beetles, which then makes any lumber suspect 🙄

Marie, I’m a little concerned about the chicken in that first picture. I believe it’s your “Princess”? Forgive me if I get their names wrong, I was gone for so long. I know you have some rescues and she looks a lot like a meat breed in her conformation… which I also keep for breeding, and far longer than their intended “lifespan” of 8-12 weeks! Her comb looks very purple there, and I am worried about her heart. It looks much like Roostie’s Did right before his heart attack. Was She recently exerting herself quite a bit? I also sometimes see this, usually in my roosters, if they have been chasing hens or each other vigorusly.
Good catch. That is a very purple comb.

I assume you’d move your chickens over if you did that?

The chickens scratch around all day, they find bugs, worms and grubs.
Q. Are we eating eggs that are made of such things?🤔
Yep. In a sense. Their bodies break the nutrients down into a little building blocks before making the eggs, but still…
