Has anyone ever heard bad news, and felt helpless about a situation? It’s not about the chickens or my horse. We are all healthy. (Personal issue, out of my control) I really am glad that I have an emotional support rooster on this issue!

Good thing Jaffar doesn't charge $ by the hour! :lau:lau

Seriously, though, I'm glad you have him for comfort.:hugs:hugs:hugs

You know, after thinking the situation over, in a little bit I'm going outside to steal Holly's egg from her and replace it with the 4 Corona eggs I have. If and when the chicks start hatching in the incubator I'm going to say a good 75% of them will be black. I desperately want a feather footed Corona daughter. If I give her eggs to Holly there will be no chance of me having a mix-up when they hatch. And we all know in most cases a proven broody hen does a better job at incubating then the best incubator. I can not leave Holly's egg with her as she always produces feather feet so if there were a Corona chick to hatch with feathered feet and Holly's hatched as well I could not be 100% sure who the momma is.
Will you put Holly's egg in the incubator instead? If she's such a good momma, you might want a daughter from her.....

Yes Holly's egg will go in the incubator. I actually have a daughter of hers. Bunny is Holly's daughter and she herself is a proven mother having reared 2 groups of chicks last year. She is the hen that hatched and raised Corona.

More Corona babies.

He charges by the pound.....of mealworms. As they haven't been available, he must be on retainer by now.
Worms are on their way. If not, I will have to go buy some. Walmart in Nevada has some. Easier to fly there, than to drive the hour and a half To Bakersfield. (I have crazy reasons to do some things)

Oooohhhh! I forgot you use that no slip stuff! Brilliant! And I bet it hoses right off!
Yes, it worked really well, they loved to jump-fly all over the tall brooder and it gave their feet good grip in landing on and maneuvering around the perches. It cleaned up with a towel easily, rinsed off well if I took it off, but doesn't hold up to strong pecking and tugging by bigger birds. So when they got older and stronger - I forget, - three, four months? - I discovered they were investigating some ragged edges, and I removed it from the perches.

Ps. I have a friend there, who I haven’t seen in a while.
