Sorry to laugh but you racing the horses for eggs is quite a comical image - and i didn't even know horses ate eggs!

The sun is out and so are the ladies! The first of many bums today, I hope!

I have switched to Grublies feed, it is black solider fly larve based. It is expensive but I only have 3 hens and they free range all day. I go through about 1 cup of food a day.

Interesting. I had only heard of them as treats. I just checked out the website. I might give it a go - though as you say, it is expensive!

We had two beautiful days this week, it was mid 70's yesterday. Only supposed to be 56 today and 48 on Monday.

I am liking the sound of that although delivery to my door is always a challenge. UPS and Amazon have mastered it. FedEx leave stuff randomly under trees in the woods and the USPS require I have a PO Box.
I am definitely going to look into this. Of course I literally just bought a new 50lb bag of feed.

Happy Friday. The sun is out but yesterday was very heavy rain so there is lots of mud. There are even drowned worms just there for the taking ‘no digging required’!

What are you doing???

Curious prickly butt. They excavated the bottom of the fencing and were all huddled in a corner of the coop when I got home yesterday (outside their area, but still inside the coop). More rearranging. They don't seem interested in heading outside yet, but 60f and breezy is still a bit cold. We get a really warm day, and I'll leave the big door open with a loop of fencing outside it so they can explore some more. So far, Cheetah hasn't shown much of an interest in them. Most of the hens haven't either. Twirp (my curious explorer) has shown the most interest. Jessica slept in a nest box last night. Is she thinking about going broody again already?



She stayed there this morning, too.

He’s been resting in hospital. And I can’t talk directly to him, but only the nurses station. Because I was his caregiver for a while they update me.
