He’s been resting in hospital. And I can’t talk directly to him, but only the nurses station. Because I was his caregiver for a while they update me.
My friend went into hospital with a heart problem, she's out now and 4 other's have been suffering with the strangest headaches ( what is peculiar is they cannot establish where the pain is in the head front back or side) and awful stomach problems. Two tested positive for covid but they should be okay because all have had their jabs. My other friends brother had a blood clot on his brain he had a bad reaction. He's only 23

The medical system is so much more advanced now so I'm hoping everyone will pull through

Fluffy friday...
View attachment 3054457What are you doing???

View attachment 3054458Curious prickly butt. They excavated the bottom of the fencing and were all huddled in a corner of the coop when I got home yesterday (outside their area, but still inside the coop). More rearranging. They don't seem interested in heading outside yet, but 60f and breezy is still a bit cold. We get a really warm day, and I'll leave the big door open with a loop of fencing outside it so they can explore some more. So far, Cheetah hasn't shown much of an interest in them. Most of the hens haven't either. Twirp (my curious explorer) has shown the most interest. Jessica slept in a nest box last night. Is she thinking about going broody again already?

She stayed there this morning, too.

Meanwhile, do you see what I see?

All I can see is poops or are they mushrooms 🤔
Oh I can see them now two eggs

I will look into this. Do you have a picture of a label off your feed with animal protein? I’m not sure what to look for.

I think I will go back to non-soy and let their little bodies adjust to the sesame meal.
I know it is expensive, but Scratch and Peck makes non-soy/corn organic feed. They have a new one with grub protein that is crumbles or pellets (while I love the company and their feed/ethics, my chooks would waste most of the non-pellet/crumble feed, and I haven't had luck with fermenting - which is what I would need to do if I used their non-pellet feed - so I am SOOOO happy they have added this line .)
Grower Crumbles w/grub protein
Layer crumbles w/ grub protien
They have layer pellets, too. However, if I recall, you sometimes use a mix of grower and layer due to non or low laying periods.

Since this company is in the Pacific Northwest, there may be a local store that stocks it in your area. I would have to drive all the way to @BY Bob 's area to pick it up instead of having it shipped. :(

Unless you are a goat… puddle water is great, and gutter/rain water is lovely as long as it doesn’t go in the rain barrel and is directly put into the RV tank. Store water at $1.40/gallon is acceptable, but farm water and system water are not drinkable… ever. Of course the preferred activity for using this expensive or painstakingly gathered resource is to knock it over with your tie out.

My eggs sell out the day they hit the store 15-20 dozen gone witching 24hrs… if people only knew what the chickens get into… they have water… good clean water which we have sometimes even bought from the store… they drink pee. Straight from the goat, or person, given the opportunity. DH found this out accidentally by peeing too near the chickens… you would think he was tossing out treats 🙄 we now have a minimum 50’ distance for outside pees from any chickens. I don’t think the medications he takes are transmissible that way… but better safe than sorry, and I don’t need to worry about petting chickens and where they have been quite so much!
:clap:th

And apparently they can't do math.... 20 minutes....

The chooks know that I have meally worms. They are following me all around the yard. I just hung up a fresh cold cabbage 🥬 and Hen-Rietta kept pestering me for the worms. I told her that there’s a fresh cabbage in the run, and she proceeded right away to get it. (Smart leghorn) !
I hung up the cabbage this morning and they had their soldier fly as a treat two hours before bed tonight

:ducRuddy flexi and Agatha are a pain in the butt too get in at night, always the same two culprits :th
