I truly feel your pain and I'm sorry this has come to you and her.

I understand this completely, more than you maybe know. Trisha died from complications of a prolapse. I won't have leghorns or productions beds again because of her and Daisy, the greatest hen ever.

Maybe it's wrong of me to love seeing them in other people's tribes but they own my heart. I can't wish them from the face of the earth and I can't bear to have them in my tribe. They are magnificent birds and we humans ruined leghorns by turning them into laying machines.

Wow splendid looking lady what a beauty 🤗

Time to move out. :D
They moved outside a week and a half ago. Until yesterday they were confined to the chicken coop as I felt they were still a bit to small to interact with the big chickens. They have been able to visit each other with the coop door as a barrier so for the most part the interactions have gone fairly well. One of the cochin girls though I have to watch like a hawk, she does not like them yet. When I get time I'm going to let them out to explore several times a day but they will not have free access outside the coop yet for another week or so.

The Chook Taj Mahal is in!

After a bit of a late start, the guys arrived with the structure flat-packed in the back of a Ute. By the time they finished the light was beginning to fade but they got it finished. I’m so happy with it! I’ll need to varnish the door, the duck-walk and nest boxes so they’ll have to wait another week so the fumes clear, but that’s ok.
