Betty was throwing a fit this morning and it took me a minute to figure out what was happening.

I realized that only Phyllis and Lilly were ranging. Everyone else were laying eggs.

In box #1 we had Aurora
In box #2 we had Hattie
In the Cluckle Hut we had Sydney

So where was Betty to lay her egg?

Maybe nest box #3?

Apparently that was unacceptable.

So she chose to lay her egg here.

And Betty is the one grumbling. Listen to her in this video. You can hear Sydney in the background having laid her egg and celebrating.

Has anyone ever heard a hen do that before. I have not. Even Hattie seems perplexed by the goings on!

I am impressed with Betty’s assertiveness!

Such a beautiful Raven! Generally speaking about where does your friend live? I’m always interested in the different Corvids around the world and that is a dead ringer for one of our North American Ravens.

We have ravens here in the San Francisco Bay Area, though I’m not sure which species. I believe it’s non-scientific name is just “Common Raven.”

Here's another idea on mouse trapping this has been made in Indiana and is sold out but I'm hoping I can get someone to help me make this. It's the best o have seen yet.

Okay okay, I’m being a bit rude. But the chooks are sitting on their eggs, and they won’t let me near my breakfast (yet)

All the time spent the last 8 weeks with Ezzie and her sisters is really paying off. It is more apparent now when they are allowed outside the coop for supervised free range time. They were frightened by a blue jay this morning. Instead of scattering and running everywhere, they ran/flew straight to me and ended up around my feet and on my head or lap. I'm also teaching them when I call for them and if they come they get a treat. Right now they love honey nut cheerio's. Having them come to me makes it easier to herd them back into the coop when their play time is up. If that recall only worked when they had something in their little beaks they want. This morning Ezzie found a rusted staple and the chase was on. I got it, but it took a while.

That alone shouldn't have killed it....not unless he ringed the tree with a trench as a grave, Something else must have been going on with the tree, too.

Yes, I have found peach trees are very fussy and easily stresses.

I baby mine esp as I am at the upper limits of latitude for growing peaches. We have huge peach growers in southern Ontario but I am in central Ontario and the big issue is loss of blossom to frost. Yee gads there is nothing so nice as fresh peaches
