Evening chores done, Misty removed from her straw bale throne and put in with the rest her ladies in waiting.

Horses all fed, and one lone barn swallow roosting in the barn tonight. Which is normal, there is always one who stays inside, not sure where the rest go... Once they start nesting then they all roost inside at night.

My migraine has returned and my stye on my eye is miserable the swelling is now down into my cheek - I told Misty to give a good peck to burst it - she declined hahaha

Madam Barn Swallow roosting on the power cable, such a handy place to build nests 😊. I wonder, will chickens eat baby barn swallows if they fall from the nest 😢

Do you have a bag of frozen vegetables (peas) ? Wear it on your face for relief 🥲

I would love to catch Jaffar a big ol trout! :old
The heck with Jaffar get me a nice big trout!

Fishing season just started here this past weekend, everyone is stopping at the creek to throw a line in after work😊

One day I saw a 3+' sturgeon just hanging out under the bridge - such an awesome looking creature!

Not sure how the blazes it got from the Nottawasaga river up the small tributary Creek past all the Beaver dams, downed trees etc. Amazing!

Ok Alex have an awesome day tomorrow.

Been doing the hot compress thing, but so sore now I don't want to touch. I haven't had a stye since my 20s, and never this bad.

I had to chuckle as the hens are eyeballing (pun intended) my sore eye when I pick them up. I am sure they want to peck at it hahaha.

Heart because I struggle with that divide constantly.
Unless you are cold-hearted, you can't not recognize there is no difference between those that are someone's pets and those that are someone's food.

Neighbor friends of ours raise goats for meat and for pets (their own large flock and for sale as pets to vetted people). The goats are all out on big fields and hollows that they rotate through, with a few Alpacas and a couple Great Pyrenees among them. The man is big into the "circle of life" and is reconciled to eating animals, the woman copes by not allowing herself to get too emotionally close to the flock they cull (but some make it into their pet flock). They take a lot of care to make it an easy death - they built a special room off the barn with the goat's mentality in mind, to make it as calm and loving as their life has been, and then to have a painless death - and he has taken lessons from Muslim and Jewish traditionalists (they observe or have gotten certified as to what makes it kosher) but from those who share his feeling that it is a very special thing to take an animal's life and if you are doing it, to do it with great care and respect for that life. I'm not sure there is more one could do - but, I have another neighbor friend who raises chickens only for their eggs. She is ovo-lacto vegetarian.

You have a crazy medical system there I think. Why would a surgeon be hanging out under a bridge? Never mind
