I am in all seriousness looking to hire some goats. Or is that rent some goats?
It is impossible to get behind the barn because it is so overgrown, but there is some serious siding repair that needs doing and a new roof.
I thought maybe goats for a week could clear it enough that we could get access.
I have heard renting goats works very well!

Hooligans sleeping on top of, rather than under their heat plate. This is the second night. I am not sure whether to turn it off as it is getting cold again later I the week - down to about 35 degrees.
🤔

I would not turn it off. Are they fully feathered? They will stay away from it when they no longer need it; I’d wait until then.

The SkyHawk seats four. How much does a sheeps weigh? :old
Lambs are light, ewes 70-90lbs? Rams you probably don’t want, there’s enough guys there with you and Jaffar already (don’t want to get testosterone poisoning!). Or, I could send calves… they are cuter, more friendly, and don’t mow quite as close to the ground. Their fertilizer deposits are also far less smelly and slippery, although larger. Goats are really better brush cutters than lawnmowers, unless we are talking about “what’s that”s (dandelions) and Jimmy 😉 and all the Ferals I would love to send packing with you are also quite male and stinky… so

? I'm not seeing Marty. Has she not fully integrated yet, or is it my aging eyes?
Hahaha you are GOOD!

I also counted and saw 11 - she gets in and about everyone, but when they all mob me for treats she retreats (teeheehee get it? Re-treats...)...

Anyways she is chased off by the others and she knows I will give treats separately. She has me well trained.

Also this pic was taken about 10 days ago.

Now she just runs in, grabs a bite and runs out of the gang.

Mine did this also, they wanted the heat but also had the need to roost ( not roast - teeheehee - I am slap happy at midnight).

I would keep the heat.

She looks like she is doing quite well. I suspect that as long as it doesn't get infected, she will be fine. She is a fighter & wants to live, and since Warrior mamma has accepted ehr, she will protect her with her life, I suspect! (lets hope she doesn't have to, I was just meaning she seems fiercely protective.)🥰🥰
Now if I could just get the little psycho to stop stepping on them! She’s settling into the airlift routine again. Morning: attack the door, burst out attack some of her flockmates (she has no tribe, the human is hers, and that one rooster the human favours may occasionally get close to her) herd the human carrying the chicks to the pen of safety, settle in for the day. Evening: human picks up the pen edge, burst forth again, may have a cockerel or two to attack. Once the human has collected the babies hop up and growl and puff until she gets also picked up and carried to the trailer. Struggle like crazy upon seeing the roosts fly, demand to be let back into the broody box…accept chicks, tuck and settle. Rinse and repeat. 🙄

:goodpost:
She really is amazing - I too find @Kris5902 an inspiration and know I could never manage through what she handles in her stride (even if she does sometimes faceplant on a baby chick!).
Holding her… I didn’t land on her (I thought I did at first) but you wouldn’t have said that if you’d had to deal with me right after, sobbing uncontrollably and pacing back and forth, trying to talk reassuringly while holding gauze on her tiny cheek… trust me I was an absolute mess. So thankful DH was at least on the island.
