Bob asked that we give his update via a PM on the morning of 4/29. He didn't specify whether he meant morning in Europe or in the US. His flight won't land in the morning and maybe he wants to read on the plane (long flight!), so to play safe I am going to send the update just before I go to bed tomorrow night.
What I thought I would do is send a PM but invite everyone whose posts I have linked to (and anyone else who wants to read the catch up) but I will lock the PM so it is 'read only'. The reason to do that is to stop people piling on in the update rather than in the FBA thread.
So if anyone wants to comment or add they can do so here in FBA.
Any concerns from anyone with that plan? And let me know if you want access to my message to Bob - I think all regular posters on this thread are included anyway because I did my update as a series of links to posts.
In other news I got thrown out of BYC on my phone so need to figure that out this morning!
That is a great idea! I like it.

I can't wait to see and hear of his trip 🤗

So for anyone who has never had a stye I can tell you they are very irritating (I would say painfully so). How can something so small cause such irritation!!

Mine is a horrid ugly mess which has me all feeling very self conscious... I feel that one good peck from a hen would rupture it 😲

This is one of the worst I have ever seen. Sorry it's graphic...

In the past I put shavings on the floor under their roost location so the pavers don't get stained, and to remind me not to stand Under them hahaha.

I will do something similar and clean the shavings in the morning before letting hens out. The swallows don't spend time in the barn during the day unless they are sitting on eggs.
I suppose if you're trying to be sort of "bio-secure" you ought to dispose of the shavings where sunlight and high temps will kill any virus eventually, but where the chickens can't get to it, as in not on Mt Poopmore! Also, when some birds (I know phoebes) leave their nestlings and fly off, they take their poop sac with them and drop it somewhere along their flight path. Do swallows always just poop over the side?
