Ouch! Looks like a few more hot compresses and it will pop itself. So for anyone who has never had a stye I can tell you they are very irritating (I would say painfully so). How can something so small cause such irritation!!
Mine is a horrid ugly mess which has me all feeling very self conscious... I feel that one good peck from a hen would rupture it
This is one of the worst I have ever seen. Sorry it's graphic...

Maggie is hanging out on the table by my chair. There is obviously a lot she feels she has to tell me.
I am not a very satisfying audience for her as I don’t really understand what she is saying. So she has to repeat herself usually even louder than the first time.

It should be a sharing arrangement, not an adversarial one!I cannot compete with my rooster! I had Arizona and Rocks-Anne inside with me. Hen-Rietta and Jaffar were Bok boking just outside my window. Then when Rocks-Anne started answering back (loudly) I put them out. Jaffar wins this round, but the war isn’t over yet!![]()
Thank you very much for taking this on! Always lots to catch up on...and lots of fluff in-between, too.Bob asked that we give his update via a PM on the morning of 4/29. He didn't specify whether he meant morning in Europe or in the US. His flight won't land in the morning and maybe he wants to read on the plane (long flight!), so to play safe I am going to send the update just before I go to bed tomorrow night.
What I thought I would do is send a PM but invite everyone whose posts I have linked to (and anyone else who wants to read the catch up) but I will lock the PM so it is 'read only'. The reason to do that is to stop people piling on in the update rather than in the FBA thread.
So if anyone wants to comment or add they can do so here in FBA.
Any concerns from anyone with that plan? And let me know if you want access to my message to Bob - I think all regular posters on this thread are included anyway because I did my update as a series of links to posts.
In other news I got thrown out of BYC on my phone so need to figure that out this morning!
I love your philosophy about keeping hens regardless of eggs. I figure everyone deserves a kind and gentle retirement, once her work is done. My chickens are all pets, too (some better than others!) and I am looking forward to more about the Fluffy Butt residents. They are beautiful birds.
I think you need to take a page from @Shadrach 's playbook and mentally investigate the situation. Like when Cheepy came running up to him one evening cheeping emphatically away. He deduced that she was trying to tell him 'mommy' got killed. when he discovered her feathers but not her the next day (or later that day, I forget now). They are pretty smart and - I think - like to let us know of new or changing events. We are kind of their 'adopted' flockmates.I am not a very satisfying audience for her as I don’t really understand what she is saying.
I think I'm going to leave him alone for a week and see how he does. At the moment, a mite wobbly as he was pretty steady in the wraps.I'm so glad Hector is doing better...that all but the worst toe are normal is WONDERFUL!![]()
