Oh dear... That's bad luck, don't call them brown call them olive 💖 more exotic.
I know I tease that I do not want blue or green eggs, but I have had them given to me and they all taste the same. I just have a personal preference of a egg basket or carton filled with various shades of brown. Oh and speckled, I love me a dark speckled egg.

Seeing how it is Pony Sunday I thought this would be fitting.

Discovered something interesting this afternoon. Babes are almost 8 weeks old, so trying to encourage some exploration. Jess will crane her head over the nest boxes to watch their antics around the coop, then say something and they head back inside the baby safe area. I opened up the big door to let the babies out (really want them going out the bird door so they know how to get home, but Cuckoo was lurking in the doorway). One of the Sussex headed out (Nox, I think). Cuckoo, Cheetah, and Twirp came in through the bird door and spread out. The rest of the babes retreated to baby area. Silver and Storm came up to the big door (from outside), with either Nellie or Pear near by, and proceeded to herd Nox back into the coop. No peck of any kind were involved, babes got within pecking range, but none were administered. Hard looks and stepping toward was enough for Nox to head back inside. It seems the adults have decided that the babes aren't allowed out yet. Not sure if it's deemed too cold, they're too small, not enough cover, or they're supposed to wait for Jess to hatch the eggs and go with her. Best guess on the eggs: due end of last week....shes still sitting....theyve pulled the same trick adding eggs...no idea if she's got babes yet, if so she's not budging yet and they're staying hidden...waiting is Not easy...

Yes I like those dark speckled eggs - oh I so hope Sophias eggs go back to being dark and speckled 😊

I should go out before I even log on in the morning… but then how would I ever stay caught up? Lol. I can always pay in Roosters… they are so much more likely to pose! If the dratted uploads would work 0%,18%, 22%, 65%…and stopped. :rantsigh more tax View attachment 3088090View attachment 3088088and my little brother crowed…so I have to too! Don’t they look alike?View attachment 3088091
Oddly the elder hasn’t got nearly the tail feathers… I wonder if this is worth breeding with? It’s sort of odd, and he’s a bit of a jerk so I keep calling him “sausage”
The roosters are very handsome. I love seeing them.

I am with you - dark brown speckled eggs is my favorite - but I do like the Roadrunner blue ones for a bit of contrast and they don't lay them very often.

My email footer reads as such:

Beware: I ride horses, which means I own pitch forks, have the strength to haul hay, and have the guts to scream at a half ton animal after being kicked... You will not be a problem
