Mugs Monday

Buttercup seems to have hurt herself… She’s limping heavily and favoring a leg pretty badly. I’m hoping she is just sore and will be better in the morning. I might have to help her up to the roost tonight and help her down in the morning.

I am also so grateful that ALL of my feathered babies get to spend their WHOLE lives here in one place.

I so hope that Buttercup is just a little sore. :hugs

I am so happy for all of you that this is your permanent home now. 🥰

I’ve been off all day fixing up my meat tractor and at 2:40pm I briefly grab my phone to set an alarm so we won’t miss sending DH for the 18:00 (6pm) chick pick up. They changed it to 16:00. We had 20 minutes to get him on his way. These are NOT 5 day old meat chicks. Some are day olds, they were chilled with one DOA. I still have about 20 pasty butts to address and another heat plate to set up. We are fed, watered, and fed again. I didn’t like the trailers carpet anyways… 😂 View attachment 3100450View attachment 3100454View attachment 3100455
I am still trimming bottoms
They are all adorable. That is just a cardboard perimeter and they are on the floor of the trailer aren't they!

I bet it was easy to sleep with all the peeping wasn't it. 😉

Good morning all! Very mild this morning 10C (50F) woohoo! Soon blackflies and mosquitoes will be out, I saw my first bumblebee last night 🤗

Two 4 Tuesday

Fluffy and Curly are back to being best friends again... I guess they worked out whatever was making them fight.

Wonderful photos. 🥰

Is it me? Is it just the second picture/lighting? Or is Aurora getting slightly darker in her plumage? Regardless...she is looking quite lovely! ❤️ ❤️ Very nice pic of her :)
Hattie is always darker at the start of the year after her molt. She fades in the sun, as does Aurora, as the year goes on. Sometimes the lighting is such that she really shows that rich color she has. She is not an easy hen to photograph and catch her coloring properly.

What is this Noise Aurora was Making?

This was going on over a week ago. She stopped making the noise, from what I have seen, after a couple of days. It was like 3 days she was doing this every so often.

Sounds like one of the warning calls I hear here. Not the "freeze, dont move" but more "be aware". Maybe she heard a hawk call far enough away to not be imminent danger, but close enough to know one's out and about. Her call: loud enough to be heard, soft enough/brief enough to be missedroost in background noises form a distance.
