Amazingly, she got herself up to bed on the high roost! I might have to get up early to help her down in rhe morning. I had gotten a small pet carrier ready with a fluffy towel in the bottom so she coukd be cozy on the coop floor, and she was having no part of that. She’s favoring the one leg so much, though, she’s tilting. I hope she can rest on a roost ok like that. She’s on a 2x4 fkat side up and wrapped in a towel, but she has four jumps to get down! I seriously need to get up early and get her down.
How’s Buttercup doing today? (06:52)

Awwwww poor wee baby. How many babies did you get? Oh yes they are very wee definitely not 5 days old.

Ok well I expect lots of baby pics I am living vicariously through you 💖
We ordered 74 (maximum per order) they shipped 79, so we have 78 as of this morning. I believe I have spotted several more bottoms that need further attention, though I thought I had them all functional last night. I lost my heat plate battery at 11:30pm and 4:30am. And had some huddling this morning by 7am, but that was quickly resolved by the application of feed. Guessing based on wing feathers and size we are between 2-4 days old, maybe a few of these hatched out on the fourth, but by no means the majority.

They are all adorable. That is just a cardboard perimeter and they are on the floor of the trailer aren't they!

I bet it was easy to sleep with all the peeping wasn't it. 😉
Honestly after the “Help Darkness” peeping and carefully relocating everyone under the heat plates by the light of the mostly covered red headlamp, it wasn’t that loud. Until 6:30 am… now the living room is a little fragrant and chirpy. They will likely be outside by Friday, I can hear the inverter alarm from inside the trailer when the battery dies…

I turned down the corner of the cardboard to add more heat. This one is smart… ish. I have found the hot breeze, but am going to fall asleep and fall off the heat plate leg. I am also betting on this one to be the first to escape the cardboard walls of the very temporary brooder. I usually brood under the tongue of the fifth wheel or in the barn, but with the unpredictable weather we have been getting and the barn occupied by the goats. I guess the living room has space. The cats would have loved this. Whisper would have been trying to sit on them, Charlie would just watch, and Bullet would want to hunt them. 😢❤️

How do feel today?
Buttercup is better this morning, but still a little sore. I took her down this morning before she had a chance to hurt herself (though she was one roost lower than when she went to bed last night.)

I’m feeling better, but still congested and tired. I think it will be a few more days, but that’s OK!
