Mr. Attitude bit me five times as I was putting the chooks away just now. I’m okay, but that little squirt can bite hard when he wants to. (I think he has been instructing his ladies how to bite too) :idunno Or maybe, I taste like steak 🥩 to them?:drool (Time to go lick my wounds)
Ouch. My sympathies.

Quick update.
There was no predawn attack by Dotty and the Hooligans got themselves back down to their ground floor apartment without incident. As I came in to the Chicken Palace they all spilled out into the main area right in front of a very grump Maggie (grumpy because her nest box was occupied). She just gave them a stern look and they got out of her way. Feels like we are getting closer to integration.
Minnie is still poorly. She keeps shaking her head. I don’t see any discharge but I wonder if she has an ear infection. I have emailed vet to ask about that and I won’t do anything until we have the fecal sample back, but does anyone have experience of chickens getting ear infections?
Have you checked very carefully for mites at night?

Sounds like it is under powered for the load it carries...or something is causing surges...or something like that. One would think the power company would address it permanently. That can't be good for business nor the bottom line, replacing it so often! However, probably a really good thing it blows instead of having an electrical fire somewhere down the line!
Two ferries full of hydro trucks are heading to one of the other islands… we might be looking at a multiple day outage again after a fairly severe windstorm… but blowing transformers can be dangerous, we had one light our free store on fire in early 2020, repairs are finally underway on that. Luckily it’s directly across from the firehall, of course all the volunteers had to still get to the hall and suit up, but no injuries. Really, it’s amazing how easily those things can light fires when the really blow and don’t just pop and do their job (they are actually designed to fail… sort of like a giant fuse)

@Kris5902 I think you need to see this if you missed it earlier.
Wow, thanks for sharing this! And @RoyalChick i can’t believe how well Maggie improved over such a short span. I’ve seen those awful lash eggs too often in my rescues, and have to say you provided an excellent quality of life. This is why giving up is always the absolute last resort IMO… until there’s no quality of life or the pain is obviously too great, there’s always hope ❤️❤️❤️

Don’t get me started on what one would think the power company would do.
Every storm here there are trees that bring the power lines down and big chunks of the town are out of power often for days.
There is no penalty to them of us all losing power.
They have to repair the lines which usually involves them putting them back up on a wooden pole so another tree can fall on them and knock them down but they refuse to discuss burying the lines -which has got to be more economical in the long run. There is one specific pole that gets replaced 3-4 times a year!
I am at the end of the line so I am always last to be switched back on. Once they put that yellow ‘hazard tape’ across my front door to tell me it wasn’t safe for me to leave my house. It was there for two days!
In my country the lines are run by a public company. Distribution is shared between a mostly public company (of which we are clients) and many privates one. First winter we spent here there was a bad snow storm on our region and thousands had a power shortage that lasted 48 hours : they took 200 euros off our bill for compensation. 1st January 2021 we saw an arc of fire on the cable and power came off : they sent someone up to take care of it a few hours later even though there was a snow storm and the tech had to finish in a local's SUV and snowshoes to get there.
The price may have gone way up, but I feel we still get a real public service relating to power when compared to other countries. I'm not happy with the fact that it's mostly nuclear but that's another subject.

I tried to find Thursday tax :
