I would love to send you some of this chilly wind.Brutal hot now so I brought the babies and Itty Bitty back in the house. I wet down the pens and bathing areas last time out. I am going to bring Gorda inside too as she's a bit chubby and doesn't tolerate extreme heat well.
I was in the barn playing with the chickies singing to them and started singing 'in the jungle, the mighty jungle the Lion sleeps tonight' ...I've got the theme song to Monk going now....
Not gonna ask about people peeI wonder what they think tastes better horse, goat, buck goat, or people pee? I know Jimmy has been peeing on his face again… and drinking his own as well so I’m betting on Buck goat being #1 on the preference list as it appears to be a multi species acceptable beverage!
TRue, but it is because they haven't been mentored. I have found many (not all) respond to kind and gentle mentoring - especially from someone they have built a relationship with & trust. Most students I have respond to kind, gentle, but firm...respect me for it and over the course of the semester...start to model it themselves in some fashion. Part is that I show them respect & try to be patient with them. Part is the expectations I hold in my classroom. If someone is being disrespectful, I stop it immediately...and one-one I discuss with them a better approach if they disagree with another student, and try to point out the value of different perspectives/strengths/styles...and how 'agreeing to disagree' can be very beneficial. (vs. being disrespectful or dismissive.)It's sad how awful these past generations have changed. There were always evil selfish and rude but a lot more of that kind now
I was in the barn and started belting out in the jungle the mighty jungle the Lion sleeps tonight....He-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee the lion sleeps tonight...

That's awesome
Wonderful approach to teaching and mentoring kidsTRue, but it is because they haven't been mentored. And, I make a point of trying to genuinely thank one or more students each class. Saying publicly 'thank you' for whatever they have contributed...wether insightful comment, helping another student, asking a thoughtful question, taking a risk, etc....especially in the developmental math courses with students who are self-conscious with math.
I've also been known to sternly reprimand a student. Like when one of my students threw a cigarette butt on the ground...made him pick it up and put in the receptical (3' away!) specifically for butts. But then thanked him when he did
