My thoughts are with you.

Extreme heat with humidity is really tough for people and animals. Thankfully out temperatures have dropped but we did have a short period of high temperatures and high humidity earlier this week. It coincided with my home A/C blowing up. I have fans and have to make do, but I really do not sleep well in that environment even with a fan.
Apparently there are supply chain issues with sourcing new A/C equipment and it is eye-wateringly expensive so I am feeling grumpy. Interestingly the chickens seemed to cope quite well - their housing is in quite deep shade and I watered down the dirt outside to give them a cool area to hang out in.

I feel for you, the extreme weather is crazy. Very hard on everyone.

Apararently cinder blocks make great little tents for sleeping. Who knew?!

I am researching portable units right now - I have no idea how long it will take to get the replacement equipment and although I am OK right now it will start getting hotter again next week. Ugh!

I thought of getting a small portable AC unit for the hen house.... Few hundred $ though....

And we don't my get too long heat spells here so think Just fans will be ok.

I want to make a screen door for the hen house tomorrow though.

I keep large box fans in the horse stalls, but its too much breeze for the chickies hahaha like a hurricane in the small area

I think I just got cussed out by Xzit. I took her out of her box to eat, but she went “crazy hen” on me, and jumped back on her eggs. (Didn’t eat or drink anything) but wow can she have a temper!

Update: I put her food/water dish in the box with her… broody brat started eating!

Still windy and chilly, but check this out, 7C tonight, going to be in the 90s by Tues. It's the wild swings that are bad for the critters. I am thinking of getting a new fan unit for the hen house.

At least it is consistently hot n humid here. Those big swings are hard on everything.

I had to put a box fan in Viajito's house as he's back in the corner with only 2 open sides. What little wind we had died at sunset

Thank heaven for small favors. Jaffar was out herding the hens back to the coop. I didn’t have to chase any of them. They are safely locked up now inside the coop and run. I’m headed back to the jacuzzi tub.
