My goat is like this too, doesn’t mind Hunters, fresh Venison transport (but mom that’s my cart! Why are you letting that deer ride in it?) Used to ride in the tractor cab, and chainsaws mean yummy tree branches, so they are totally ok! Arduinna is a special little Goatling

Big To Dos at Fluffy Butt Acres

I can't believe that everyone accepted my explanation for the refurb of the prefab. It did come out wonderfully (if I do say so myself).

Look closely at where it is placed.

It is in the corner behind the magnolia tree. That is so I can use it as........

A QUARANTINE COOP!

While I cannot create a full 30 foot quarantine environment, I can isolate new chickens and fence off my tribe from them.

So BY Bob, if you are setting up a quarantine coop you must be anticipating new chickens.

Why yes I am. They arrived today.

Everyone meet the newest residents of Fluffy Butt Acres. None of them have names yet.

This young lady is a Jubilee Orpington. Hopefully he and Hattie will have some adventures together.

This young lady is a Buff Laced Polish (and already Mrs BY Bob's favorite).

And our final new member is white!

She already is displaying signs of leadership and is a Frost Legbar!

I did think you were fixing it up because of plans for more chickens, but not for this year.

Had a ruckus going on in the coop. Went out to check. Blanche was in Twirp's favorite nest box. Odd... she usually lasts in the ground spot. Twirp settled into the box at the opposite end.... more ruckus... both are on the ground, no eggs. "Good luck sorting this ladies" walk out to see what the babes are up to (Jessica is officially done with her girls during the day and they're not complaining about it: roosting happens separately but it still together). More fussing... from Blanche. ? Twirp nipped into her favorite box while Blanche was protesting on the ground and is stubbornly clinging to it. 2 min later, silence.....

Thank you all for your understanding, kind words and support. I have my camera charging as I know I owe a boat load of tax and will pay up this evening.

All I did yesterday was sleep and minimal chicken chores. I gathered eggs and put everyone to bed for snuggles and that is it. Part of it was sheer exhaustion, but a huge part of it was feeling sorry for myself. I have been dealing with depression and sometimes anxiety for years, never terribly bad but it would come and go. I have been reluctant to take medications for fear of them "knocking me out" so to say. I broke over last month at my DRs appointment and told him I was going crazy and I needed help, I could not do it anymore. He suggested I try one called Effexor, it has a anxiety med built in and is not supposed to knock you out. It helped a little bit while she was here. I'm sure now that she is gone maybe I can see the full benefits from the medication. I do know after yesterday I'm not allowing myself to be drug down any longer. I'm going outside after I fix Rosie lunch and there are chores waiting. My coop needs a proper cleanout, stalls need cleaned and I have neglected the boys and the chickens for far too long. I have 3 broody hens that have to be broken up, it is too hot this week and next for them to safely think about setting and Karen needs taming.

Do you have some music or podcasts you can listen to whilst doing your chores? Sometimes I find it’s the only way I can get things done and will listen to music at work to help keep me focused.

What a sneaky surprise!
I'm soo happy for you and wish you many many years of happiness with them. I will say the new orp will probably be a new favorite. I secretly want either a speckled sussex or a jubilee orp. That color pattern is just so pretty. It also sounds like in a few months you will finally have that blue egg you have dreamed about and tried for for so long. It is no surprise who Mrs. BYBobs favorite is. I think she feels the same way about her polish as I do about my silkies.

The orpington has gorgeous feathers already. They have the kind of depth to them that @ChicoryBlue buckeyes seem to have.

I think you could be right on her being a favorite. But look at my white lady.

I just received these pictures a few minutes ago. These are from the lady who took the batch of chicks me and grandma incubated while she was here. Apparently when they are let out of the coop for some free range time they flock to her deck looking for treats. Updates like this makes me very happy. The little white one is Crickets brother who was supposed to be another keeper and you can see the squirrel chick who was once Effie until he became a known male as well in the background.
