Weigh in
First off, Bella is adorable. I got besotted all over again! I got her to step off the roost onto my arm and she sat there calm and happy and so warm and fluffy. And it wasn't even dark!

Anyway, in the blue corner, weighing in at just shy of 3lb (1338g), we have Bella destined to be a heavyweight champion but still only in the welter weight.

For reference Minnie has 3/4 of a pound on her but was well shy of 4lb at her last weighing which was when she was poorly. I will try and weigh her tomorrow to get an updated weight.
Maggie is just over 5lb.
So Bella is big, but still smaller than a Roadrunner and she has a fair bit of fluff that puffs her up.

I need to get a scale and weigh my gals I guess...

It’s crazy hot outside, so I brought everyone in to the chickens room. I’m having a conversation with Jaffar, and he’s telling me that it’s hard being a rooster in such heat. Says he wants a vacation. I’m not sure where I can take a rooster on vacation? I have to go out of town soon and pick up my new car. That’s a 7 hour drive. (I can’t take him with me though) I wish I could! I won’t be able to fly there either. (I need to drive the car back) “can’t fly a plane and drive a car too” frustrating dilemma.

With Phyllis weighing in at 5lbs 3 lbs before she went broody Bella does have a bit of fluff inflating her size. Phyllis looks small next to the other hens but her feathers are sleek and smooth.

I need to get a scale and weigh my gals I guess...

It's good to have a healthy reference weight to use I case they ever appear poorly. Weight can help to identify how sick they may be and how long it might have been going on.

Twiggy and George are 4 weeks old today. Over a week ago momma Bunny decided this was the new perfect spot to sleep. I still do not agree with her. If she can get them up this far, she can get them up on the big roost but she chooses not to. Until she does its the coop for them.
