I know it is an evil invasive tree that makes you sick, but it is very pretty with added little chickens!!

It is a pretty tree. When it is not in full bloom I love it. It provides great shade and most importantly, where those 3 mimosa's are, we have lost none of the back yard due to flooding. Those roots hold. We are almost 2 weeks into them blooming, if I'm lucky another 2 weeks and hopefully its done.

Got home VERY late last night. One of the larger towns here does their fireworks display on 3 July. The smaller towns around on 4 July (no idea why, now on my "to be investigated list", discussed with MIL who grew up in area and has always been that way). Display starts around 1030pm (sky finally dark enough), so pushing midnight when got home. Went to close coop (BBQ with friends had us leaving around 3pm). Big door wide open.....flashlight on phone, head count....all there, disgruntled at having sleep disturbed. 3 eggs (Magpies, juveniles, have figured out how to get in to steal them: working on that)

I'm going to need a nap this evening. Even though out of respect for the fallen cops fireworks have been postponed until this coming weekend my neighbor will shoot his off tonight. I saw them bringing in bags of them yesterday afternoon. The last several years they have started shooting the things at almost midnight. I will once again be out back, cursing him to myself as I'm trying to calm Louis and Dirt. Russ sleeps through it. Dirt and Louis have lost their minds the last few years. Not only will the horses be upset, every chicken on the place also gets upset and the let it be known....loudly.

Be careful! My mare almost trampled me a few years ago... Now I just lock her up shut the windows doors etc. Keep lights on in the barn, try to keep her from going bat crap crazy

The chickies flap around so I turn lights on for them so they can see where they are going

Many of my neighbours dogs also freak out....

I took these yesterday. I may try for some more later on today for mugshot monday we will have to see.
The mimosa tree has another use besides giving me my yearly sinus infection...and it has by the way. The hooligans are gorging themselves on its blooms and using it for photo ops.

That is a shame all around including not observing the respect for the cops who were shot.
We had it quite bad last night but it is mainly the cats who freak and they are OK if I am close by. The chickens were clearly awake but not freaked. More watchful.

My 3 Mimosa's in all their allergy inducing glory. The oldest one is 20 years old, the younger 2 are about 15 years old.

Xzit update: I took her off the egg, to see if she could poop. Irritatingly, she got right back on it. Now she’s probably angry at me for doing that.

Apparently grows in zone 6b, I am zone 5 so guess it not a good match
