Not planning on NOT keeping him at the moment. Plans can change, winter is coming, predators get hungry, and decisions can wait (other than names). He's beautiful (and a favorite...who am I kidding: they're all favorites) and his fighting spirit CAN be a blessing or a curse. I was happy with 4 roos, but 5 will work too. Good sentinels/escort boys are needed.

This afternoon, Hector was keeping watch through the gap the buck came through the other day. Little Whiskey was doing a bit of watching the opposite direction farther down the hill. (This while I was getting the pics of Cheetah and Horus, among others). Cheetah had been doing sentinel duties when I first moved the hose. Hector came over, got a drink then took up his post as Cheetah came over. Watching the shift in who/where is interesting and sometimes subtle. Even the hens do some duty time, right down to Pippa, Maizie, Lark, and Indigo. None seem to be on duty for very long at one time but everyone gets to eat, drink, bathe....Cheetah is on most frequently, but Hector is taking up duties more and more frequently. It's coming!!!:wee
:ya:celebrate:wee:yesss::jumpy
My gals ate completely oblivious for the most part. The silkies tend to be more of the watchers, I guess losing the 2 silkie Roos last summer really affected them.

I find that when I am outside they relax and putter around more than when I am not out there, like they know I am watching out for them.

I have been toying with getting an older roo a small one silkie or other bantam sized roo. Something experienced and maybe around 2 yrs old.

I finally got the door sliding hahaha. Just need to do some finishing touches. Time Thieves ☺️
Tell me about it! My day was spent with Dakota, then Xzit, then Jaffar, then Shenandoah, then Coco. I have Hen-Rietta now, but it’s getting time for the chooks to start heading to the coop soon.
