That's going to be messy. :sick
It was :sick

I tried to get her down gently but those feathers of hers are tender. So i had to grab her and cradle her. Of course she was full of doodoo :lau

So I picked all the poops off of her and made her roost on her nest box on the ground.

Ewww!

I am very late to the party... let's just call it "Hawaiian time" 😅 I wanted to congratulate @BY Bob on this thread reaching 10,000 pages & 100,000 posts! What a wonderful feat! In celebrating of this milestone, here is some of my favorite photos that I've shared in this thread:

It's been a while since I've last been on here. It was hard coming back after Chickadee disappeared at the end of February. For those that don't know, she was a wild hen that "adopted" me during the pandemic and moved into my backyard for nearly two years. It was really hard on me when she left and I think I'm (sort of, okay not really) coming to terms with it.

I don't even know how many pages & posts I'm behind on 😅 I feel like I have lots of catching up to do! Hope you are all well and I look forward to reading up on everyone's flocks!
You have been missed. Thanks so much for returning and Vandiver. As always I love your photos.

I'm very sorry that Chickadee disappeared. That must be very difficult. I could feel how precious she was to you in your posts. Please accept my most sincere condolences. :hugs :hugs :hugs

It's Done

No criticism please. This is the best I could do. The scissors barely cut through them. I hope this helps her. She was a real trooper this time.

She weighs 0.800 kg 1.76 lbs up from 0.678 kg 1.49 lbs back on 7/27. Full grown Phyllis weighs 1.33 kg 2.93 lbs.

That's concerning. You checked the pad for bumblefoot, right?

It could be a strain like Lilly had twice. She worked through it by resting herself. Your roosts are really high. I would not let her roost high like that
I was watching her closely, and she was able to get up to her place on the roost. It’s actually an easier perch than the others. (I dont have lower roosts than those high ones). Yet.

Éowyn constantly beaches security now. No one pays her any nevermind. It just happened 3 times in 20 minutes.
Good moggy! Send her here - I am freaking out as there is something digging under my hen house flooring.

Tomorrow I am going to move everything out of there and see what’s up behind the nest boxes and set some rat or mouse traps.

Furious with vermin now. I can’t poison outside the feed room for obvious reasons! So need to get a handle on the beasties and get rid of them. Right now I am a nervous wreck worrying about a rat of something getting in there - sure could use a kitty like Éowyn to protect them!

Your photos are the best! (I have saved many of your photos in my computer and periodically admire). I didn't know that Chickadee disappeared ☹️☹️ . I am so sorry.

I hear ya! Cutting those suckers is hard! Like cutting sticks! I am going to try the ponytail holders on the wee man.

She sure looks cute though :love

The getting up is not the problem. It's the jump down that's the issue. There is a great risk she could injure the leg further. Especially if she is jumping down from height. Can you bring her inside and roost her lower?
