Baby Hattie

Yesterday was the anniversary of the day Hattie moved out of the house. So now she is finally a pullet and no longer baby Hattie. Therefore this will be the last baby Hattie post this year.

I'm sorry, I really thought I answered yesterday but in fact I did not. No, it's not possible, the old houses with their new gutter are just above on the other side of the path that reaches out house entrance. Even tanks would be hard to fit in there. (Old house on the left, our house on the right)

Hmmm yes a tight fit indeed.

Here, old farm houses had underground cisterns that were used for ‘grey’ water (watering gardens, and eventually when inside toilets came into being water to flush the toilet).

I imagine your ground would be too rocky to dig a cistern, I sure hope you can get an effective solution going. I feel very blessed that I live in an area of more than abundant water. I may grumble about mud and mosquitoes but I know that water is life.

Hopefully no one minds all chick pics. Ive been taking them out into the trampoline in pairs to give em a view of the world outside the pack n play for about 10-15 minutes at time. Here are my two penguin chicks one is significantly larger then then the other could be Moss Eggers could be French Copper Maran. My guess is one of each due the size difference and slightly different combs. I also suspect roos. They are 20 days old today. Larger ones name is Season smaller Night.

No one here doesn't like chick pics. The more the better. Please keep on sharing. 🥰🥰🥰

Caturday (how are you @Ribh )

A late to get going day today, mum is ill like with Covid (though she will deny that) and stayed in bed, and I have had a miserable week with not sleeping with my back and leg spasms - I did chores and fell back to sleep till 10:30! 😳😳😳 the day is almost gone now!

As a result Missy was very annoyed with me when she finally got outside. Hahaha that cat has the ‘annoyed’ expression down pat!

I managed to get a couple of pics of her glaring at me 😆

Well it’s going to be a hot one today, I still have to do chores, thrown down hay and haul feed to the barn. At some point laundered - oh and get to town for groceries seeing as how mum must quarantine for 5 days - no casino for her this week😳😁

Hawk!

The ladies have been free ranging together today. Twice the hawk has been by. The first time Aurora alarmed and all hens bolted for cover, that included the Rascals. 👍👍 I could hear it that time but I could not locate it.

The second time I saw it first and I made a loud noise which made everyone run for cover, including Mrs BY Bob! 🤭🤭🤭

Neither time was I able to hurt it. I am ready though as I am fully armed.

Missy is a lovely cat. 😍 Sorry your mom has covid but I'm glad that it does not seem to be serious. :hugs

Sounds like they are learning predator safety which is a good thing! I really must get my gals better at alerting to overhead danger.

I was thinking of getting a kite with eyes on it and flying it overhead to get them to run for cover… any thoughts anyone??
