I was thinking about that as I moved to Level 2 water preservation (which includes only once daily flushing and all cups and plates to be washed outside to help the plants).
I was day-dreaming all the different ways to suck up all the water flooding you, and dump it on my poor dessicated trees.
My mind wandered around pipelines and giant syringes and a tanker train. I really liked a tanker train because it could also bring some beautiful clean-legged Marans chickens my way!
Sorry - my mind wanders in weird ways.
That is not weird at all! Who wouldn't want one of her Marans girls...and some of her extra water given you are in a drought! Win-win all around!!!

Seems these days everyone is either getting no rain (drought status), or too much rain - or too much at once, not metered out nor frozen & accumulating (winter - to gradually melt in spring)

My ducks don't like drought status, as there isn't any mud to play in. However, my plants are very happy I have ducks, as they make such a mess of their water that it gets changed daily...and the plants get the muddy-poopy-dirty water...and you can tell where it had been dumps as those plants and the surrounding grass is a lush green compared to the rest of the yard!

Weird question, but is there such a thing as a sling for a horse to sleep in so she can get REM without going to the floor? Like a hammock sort of.
I have lain awake at night thinking of this exact thing, also a couch or raised bed of some sort, she can recline on… or a padded crush to wedge her up in…. Hahaha. All sorts of contraptions!

They do have slings that are used for fractures etc. and if I could get one built in there I would.

I am leaning towards a narrow stall with a sling under her belly, behind her butt and a ledge to rest her head on. I think she would be ok and not panic….
:he :he :he

Just had to repost this one of Mr Pompei and Marty ❤️

My grass is all weeds - that’s why it’s green!

Best place for chickens to play around in and find bugs 💕
