What I have found helps is, if you have time, pick him up and hold him gently, talk softly, but don't pet/stroke, etc. I cluck softly to mine (and the hens will eventually cluck back - when they do, they have settled down!). Anyways, I will have a treat in my other hand, within reach. Talk softly or cluck softly, but don't move at all (I sit on an upturned bucket, but anything - standing, sitting, etc.) and wait and let him start eating the treat from your hand. Tell him he is a good boy and set him down slowly and gently. He will be begin to associate holding with treats and soon he will settle as soon as you pick him up....and gradually you can start petting him. Start with crop and/or lower back....not head......eventually you can - over time- move to wattles ( I crock my finger so it is parallel to floor and use finger to 'rub' chin...which rubs wattles, by default. :)
I need to get him eating from my hand, he won’t at the moment. When I throw down treat everyone come running and they crowd the poor wee fella out. What I need to do is get him and Marty alone in the barn. Away from the bossy gals!

Tonight was night 1 of a 2 day Labor Day horse show. That translates to I have Rosie's best friend for the night and her "knee capper", sorry, mini pony ground tied in the front yard. The girls are getting up bright and early in the morning to give lady a bath. Apparently this afternoon before the show she got loose and got in their garden. Her mane is full of burrs and they want to show her in the halter class tomorrow. They can have at it, I'm sleeping in.

Holy cow - been there! Some show sheen will help get them out. And a touch of mineral oil or Dippity-Do (yep they still make it!) will help keep the mane tame 😊

Expecting awesome pony pics 😊

Yes he is a good rooster, I really lucked out. He crows but not a lot and not overly loud. And the hens like him. Most importantly ther is NO drama like there was with Pangoo.
Need to re exam this statement, this morning he is crowing up a storm and when I was feeding he was doing the chase ‘‘em down rooster routine…. Hmmmmm

So, since I don't have a Pony, thought I would post a picture of my dog Elroy. Can't ride him, but HE thinks he is a lap dog:rolleyes: No pony is gonna sit on my lap!:D He is from horse country, though, so I can see how he might be confused about being a pony/being a rider of a pony. And, yes, he has the 'pleading eye' look down pat!
