Don’t worry about your gals, they are much more used to handling weather than we are.My local vegetable supplier has brought me an array of various tomatoes, I can't eat store bought they make me ill but his green tomatoes are lovely
I'm wondering if our nasty slimmy slugs that we have in an abundance maybe one of the causes of bumble foot as well as infected crops.
Personally I'm relieved the weather here is cooler. I know it will be extremely hard keeping my girls warm with no way of getting a electric set up
The sad part for cold weather here is our homeless people they have suffered dreadfullythat bothers me hugely.
Each year there are deaths. It's so unfair with so many privileged people in our country that have not one thought in their minds too help them. Even people around where I live look down on them with no empathy for what they are suffering...
It sickens me that the government don't even mention helping them not even in the harshest of winters
It would be amazing if a little of the vast lands that are owned by the rich was given to help those so desperately in need.![]()
Here the weather gets down to around -30C many overnight days and mornings take a long time to warm up. And while it’s about 10 degrees warmer in the barn -20C is still way colder than you likely get; even my silkies just carry on and do what chickens do best - scratch around in the stalls, eat, poop, lay eggs.
The biggest challenge is to get to the eggs before they freeze!
