Every rooster wants to meet Phyllis!Nice! I think Mr Pompei would like to meet Lady Phyllis![]()
He has such a good coop well constructed and with wire all around I think she was safe.I keep worrying about Gucci out of the coop. I hope @BY Bob figured something out.
I now make my silkies sleep in the middle nest boxes off the floor when they are broody or molting - just in case a rat gets in the hen house. I don’t think one can get in there the floor is all brick pavers, but I want the gals off the floor nest areas.Mrs BY Bob was with me but we were headed home. She was only outside like that about 2.5 hours.
Everyone, Please consider that after Maleficent was killed by the suspected weasel I did a lot of work closing up the run as tight as possible. While it is not as secure as the coops are, it is pretty secure. I have not seen signs of anything inside the run for a long time.
Don't get me wrong, I want her in the coop at night; however, I was not panicked. If I could not have gotten home I would have sent JD over to move her inside.
You know I was mentioning I hadn’t seen Pompei with the gals doing his thing, well I caught him and Blanche together this afternoon, and I was surprised, no squawking from Blanche or trying to run away, not like when Pangoo was here.Every rooster wants to meet Phyllis!![]()
OMG, I am SOOOOO glad to hear this. I didn't want to say it and panic you, nor jinx anything, but I kept thinking of poor Mal, and I was very worried.Rescued

It's very true. They worry us to bits some times.I now make my silkies sleep in the middle nest boxes off the floor when they are broody or molting - just in case a rat gets in the hen house. I don’t think one can get in there the floor is all brick pavers, but I want the gals off the floor nest areas.
Who knew chickens could give us as much worry as the horses!!
He's a real gentleman. You know I was mentioning I hadn’t seen Pompei with the gals doing his thing, well I caught him and Blanche together this afternoon, and I was surprised, no squawking from Blanche or trying to run away, not like when Pangoo was here.
Mr Pompei is so quiet and doesn’t harrasse the gals I feel it makes a huge difference with them accepting him. So I know if I want eggs from Blanche to hatch I could, she hasn’t laid an egg since last year. I think Rose was one of the last eggs she laid!Just as well hahaha I don’t need any more chickies!
Trust me. I thought it without you saying it. I kept telling myself that the run is much safer now as I drove home.OMG, I am SOOOOO glad to hear this. I didn't want to say it and panic you, nor jinx anything, but I kept thinking of poor Mal, and I was very worried.
I can now go to sleep.
Yes your coop is very secure, I wasn’t worried for any predator but was worried she would be anxious, of course I have a couple that want to roost anywhere but the henhouses!Trust me. I thought it without you saying it. I kept telling myself that the run is much safer now as I drove home.
