Solar panels, generator, something?

I have no one in this world capable to help me do this if I had the money I would. Solar would be great I'd have automatic doors as well

A jacuzzi sauna the list is endless

This is the one reason that I made the Hen House small, it’s 4’ x 10’ and they only spend the night in there or lay an egg in nest boxes.

It’s fully insulated and easy to heat if I need to. But they generate enough body heat to keep it at or above freezing in there. On the most chilly nights I was tempted to heat it, and this winter I likely will.

I also thought of using heat lamps but they freak me out too much. Still thinking what to do this winter…

We are supposed to get rain Wednesday, fingers crossed, we need it. Plus i have my eye appointment on wed. and clouds will make it bearable to drive home afterwards.View attachment 3273118

I hear you it's never ending thinking how to keep them warm or even cool in the heat.

They seem to handle cold better than heat.

RAT

01:10hrs

Nothing wakes you up completely then when scrolling through you barn cams and you see a RAT in your hen house. Seems my rat zapper is not doing it's job.

Had a very disturbed sleep, dreamt about trying to catch rats and shove them in an empty plastic shavings bag. But they kept trying to get out, and they turned into rabbits, who were broody and had baby rabbits nesting in my nest box.

And one rabbit was wearing a ‘hen apron’! Which had me saying This one is someone’s pet… I shoved it into the plastic bag…

Yes gads these rats are going to drive me crazy

All you really need is a light source so you can see them in the dark/low light.

A solar light in there is inexpensive and really all you need - you don’t need all the fancy-dancy stuff, it’s nice to think about but not required

I have a $10 solar light that I sometimes use like a flashlight but I can use it as a light source also, and have done so prior to having the generator when we had power outages.
