She has stopped laying since the beginning of september, but spends time in the nest box almost every morning pretending or trying to lay. This was Caramel's behaviour before we found out she had EYP. Cannelle is too flighty a hen for us to try anything like bathing, let alone feel if there is an egg stuck inside. I am not sure whether it's just molting and a laying pause or a serious issue.I am sorry Cannelle is worrying you, what is she doing? She is lovely.
Do they know you feel that way about them?I couldn’t name my chooks by personality, or there would be::
Drama queen
Butthead
Evil bee-atche
Horndogger (the rooster)
Nono!
Piglet
$&@#* !
Sure hope she is ok, one of my hens Blanche laid soft eggs for a couple months now doesn’t lay eggs at all, so far she has been hale and hearty, eats like a horse and is one of the boss hens.Hello FBA. It's wonderful to have so many baby chicks on the thread...but to be honest I feel exhausted just thinking about it- chicks are a cause of incredible delight and worry at the same time !
The chickens are sensing some sort of threat today that I'm not seeing- they left the cover of the laurel tree for only about half an hour this morning to dustbathe and forage some, and they've been back under since. I'm certain they have a good reason to stay hidden so I won't tempt them out, even though it's a beautiful warm sunny day again, 25°/77 now!

@RoyalChick how is Maggie doing today ?
@featherhead007 I hope you are doing ok and that your clever scheming chickens are helping you stay positive throughout this new week.
Friendly leghorns rock!Good point. As you know, my Margo, a Leghorn, was quick, but I would not call her “flighty.” And she was a very cuddly hen. Though there may be breed linked personality traits, they really all have their own!
Rebel !I've been watching Raven with her group of 5 now that she has them off the nest. She tries her hardest to be a good mom and keep them all together. There is that one though who is giving her fits and I find it amusing. If Raven thinks they need to take a break and wants them all under her, the little blue one wants to run around her or be on top of her. If she is digging up something and calling them over to eat, 4 are under foot and the blue one is standing back watching. She wants to take them all one way, it runs the opposite way, and she ends up having to turn around and bring the rest to go with it. If it in fact turns out to be a girl, I will have to keep it. I've not named them yet and I will not for a bit, but when the time comes it's definitely going to need a "trouble" name.
No!Do they know you feel that way about them?
Wow 77F that’s glorious! It’s 36F (2C) here and wet flurries brrrr! When o fed the chickies this morning they were non too happy with me opening the hen house door letting the cold air in hahaha- whimps!Hello FBA.
