Going into their 13th week - update

Things have settled down here since the two boys went to their new home. We spent about 2 hours with them today and I really got to see them interact. Minor pullet scuffles of course but they seem like they are becoming a nice cohesive little flock of 11.

Oreo, the Roo, is living it up crowing loud and proud every morning and the girls gather around him whenever he lays down and they mostly keep him within eye sight when out during supervised free range time. They all seem happy with him (so far).

While we were outside today a hawk sounded off, it was in the distance and I never saw it. I have never seen my crew move so fast! They all bolted from every direction, hop-flying, and skidding sideways into the run and dashed inside the coop. They stayed there for a good 10 minutes before they slowly emerged again. Good instincts developing that I was thrilled to witness!

I apologized to Diana for calling her a pig. @bgmathteach is right, that was very rude of me. However, there is no denying that for a chicken with such a skinny butt she is a very dedicated foodie.
Here she is in SloMo demonstrating her corn on cob technique.
Her second and fourth lunges are particularly impressive!
