I watched a Nature of Things episode on aging and birds are very hard to ‘age’ apparently, unlike mammals they don’t have typical aging signs, they can check the genes telomeres for aging though, bit expensive I should say to get that done!

If I had to guess I would say Jaffar is ageless

Another Painted Hen

Years ago my dear Maleficent made contact with something I was painting and had white paint on her side until she molted. You can see it here on her back.

So I am surprised that none of you noticed when it happened again. Anyone take a close look at Lady Featherington's comb in today's mug shot?

Someone got a little too close to the porch when it was being painted yesterday. Silly girl.

What bothers me, is that the veterinarian wouldn’t even try to guess what age Jaffar is. Well over 4 years old though.

Maybe he just doesn't know.. I can look at a dog and make a good guess but with the adult chooks I am clueless.
