I am really upset with work today. I am so upset that I can't concentrate on the millions of things (all work related) that I need to do. So I decided to post some chicken pictures.

Art by chickies (very spooky isn't it)

Work is a four letter word sometimes!

Still love that cape of your hen’s 🥰

I knew it was bound to happen, my idiot got whipped by his daddy yesterday.

This knothead thought it would be a smart idea to jump one of the momma hens. She shrieked and Branch rolled him. The big baby came running to who other but ME. Seeing as how Branch was hot on his heels I scooped him up. We had a long talk about the error of his ways. How I would not always be around to save him so he had better start making smart decisions and to never mess with the momma hens. When I put him down Branch came out of nowhere to administer another stern peck to his head to get his point across. The rest of the afternoon he did leave the momma hens alone. It was a good thing too, because now, he is being watched very closely by Branch ready to pounce if he puts a toe out of line.

Please Twig, please. Learn the error of your ways quickly and smarten up.

I know right!?

Last week I went to town, got half way there and remembered I had the chickens out in the run (which is not fully completed), I turned around went home and put them in the barn hahahaha 😊
Right indeed! I know countless farmers raise livestock and can remain removed emotionally but I can not pull off that trick. I care deeply that they are safe so absolutely like many folks on here have noted giving them freedom comes with the cost of worry. It is indeed a fine balance between quality of life and their security.

I have done that. I have to chant - chickens locked before I leave the house.
The cameras help because I can check that the door is shut once I have gone.

Some pictures today, they were near the waterer lol but none had any sips and it was so chilly I gave up and headed inside. Maybe it still counts?? 🤞

Snicker my one constant lap chicken. She doesn’t like to be touched to much but she almost always comes up for a visit :)

Peanut Butter oh my this girl … she so wants to be in charge of everything but she is the smallest of the bunch however she is super fast and is always starting stuff she cant finish but she can run from! I should have named her spit and vinegar as she has both in ample supply. 😂

Oreo: He is still calm as cucumber and is a benevolent leader so far. The girls all seem to love him and he is usually surrounded by them. Its hard for me to nab a oic of just him! The color changes his feathers have gone through is astounding!
