There was a tiny bubble, so I drew slightly more, as I agree anywhere between .25 and .30 would be okay. Wasn't sure if I could tip it up and tap the bubble up, expel it and then dip it again in the bottle to get more, but I'm going to try that next time. I used to give our cat Calvin (RIP) insulin, but that dispensing method already started at the proper angle for bubbles.
I draw up more than the dose. Tip it upside down and tap the bubbles out. Then I squirt out the excess. It wastes some product but you have way too much in that bottle anyway.

You ended up with several hens with Marans in their background right? I know a lot of lines are different, but in general Marans are considered a broody breed. Mine definitely are and so are the mixes I've kept. The majority of mine have went broody for the first time not long after they begin laying, and are repeat offenders as well.
Oh yes, I would say of the 10 hens I have one Maran, and 3 heavy maran crosses and one or two others that likely have some maran in there genes. So I guess I will need to put in more than 4 nest boxes so broodies dont take all of them and spring/summer should be an adventure. ✅

In other news, besides the commercials, Rosie has fallen in love with the song everywhere. Downloaded it and been playing it on repeat on her phone. I started out hating it, I really did. I found myself yesterday singing it to Russ as I was in his stall cleaning it. The kicker, I was out by myself doing stall touch-ups with no music playing. Russ likes it by the way.

Believe it or not Flour, Sugar, and Biscotti are all the same line. They are all Easter Eggers from a line called Moss Eggers by the hatchery I got them from. Yes, all of those girls have feathered feet as French BCM’s were used as one of the breeds that created them. Thank you I think they are turning into pretty ladies too! 💕
Can’t wait to see what colour eggs they lay!

So Mr. Twig has some explaining to do. You all know he has given me a bit of grief over taming him. I now know he was intentionally doing it. The little jerk loves to be held, I'm just not his favorite person. Yesterday I saw him going up one of my neighbors steps. I ran up that way to shoo him off as I discourage them from other yards and getting on peoples porches is a no no. I get to her driveway and what do I find? My neighbor and her 5 year old daughter sitting on their porch with Twiggy in between them being hand fed cracked corn and bird seed. She spots me, starts laughing and said she'd stolen my rooster. Twiggy visits every afternoon and has learned to come running at the sound of his treat bucket being shook. After my initial shock at the sight, I explained I just did not like them getting on other's porches which besides hers they do not. Her husband walks out and begged me to let them continue to visit daily. Apparently my chickens visits is the only thing stopping him from having to buy chickens himself for his kids. I'm happy my neighbors love my chickens, but at the same time I want to strangle Twig. It's ok little man, next time your daddy is ready to thump you do not come running to me.
Hahahahaha too funny🤭

You just need to up the anti! Like noodles! They love noodles!

Hahaha, oh I know! Your tune came on the tv (yep thanks now I am seeing it everywhere…), and there o was for the rest of the evening belting out that song, put to the barn in the dark, doing chores….. likely scared every night time critter away for miles! Good tune though!

I sing to the chickies and horses all the time, I sing when I ride… 😊

It especially nice when they all stop and watch me, so special 🥰

(More likely they are hoping I trip and fall face first in something…)

I cannot carry a tune either, and you will never catch me recording myself singing. But the horses really love music. They also react differently to different beats and songs. If I want them calm there are certain songs I can play and they will fall asleep. There are other songs I can play and have them all bobbing their heads to the beat of the music. When Rosie rides in the ring she sometimes brings down the stereo to play for Russ. If she wants Russ to hold his gait for several laps she'll blast "Rolling in the Deep" for him and he never misses a beat.

Happy Friday everyone!

Had to stick a gloved hand in Brune's butt this morning 😬. An exceptional soft shell egg from her that wouldn't come out.

Theo's tail and wings are back to their former glory! Just a few days and his mane should be coming in nicely.

Hope Brune got over the indignities already!

Hope you have recovered from having to cause her the indignities.:p🤭

And, lastly, hope she doesn't repeat the need of the indignities.:fl:fl
