For Michelle. I think I might have a new armpit warrior! Coco has been getting really friendly with me lately. For a fake Barred Rock, she sure acts like a thoroughbred. Papa is so proud

Let’s both think warm thoughts!

I'll warm you both up. It was single digits Fahrenheit all day. Wind chill advisory in effect.....ZERO wind. Chooks came outside for breakfast. Sunny skies, no wind, cold temps. Sun went down....temp dropped to.....lemme go look....-2F and falling. Now don't you feel warm in comparison?

Even Silver came out (hasn't budged so much as a toe). Her moult must be mostly done.

Tonight's Roosting in the Cluckle Hut.

WHERE ARE THEY!

I am guessing this might be cuddling for warmth. It appears that there are three of them on the middle bar, Sydney, Lady Featherington, and Glynda. Tonight will be the coldest night so far as it is going down to 28°F (-2°C). I don't know if I want to watch this roosting process.

And yes, Hattie is sleeping on a ceramic egg that someone through out of the nestbox. I bet that is cold. What is she thinking?

She's thinking it's closer to the food....and may hold her body heat when she gets up for munchies, giving her a warm spot to come back to.

I have a problem. Flash snuggled up on me. She laid down on my chest and her head is against my neck. She’s asleep now. But I can hardly breathe (she’s a big girl) help!

Training hens to be lap friendly, is tedious work, but rewarding in the long run!
