Anyways, I have a few photos to show from yesterday and today. Some of them have funny captions. The ones in green font are the funny captions.

We brought the cat inside for a few minutes. Luckily, dad wasn't home to see this.

These two sleep together very often but I think this cat thinks he's a dog

Our cat tries her hardest to act like a dog. I think it is because she bonded to my husband and he says he hates cats.
She even plays fetch. Someday I will try to find and post a video.

Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all

Ok so it isn’t quite that bad, but I swear when it rains it pours. At PT for my ankle Monday the therapist went a little overboard on how long he has me do some of the exercises. My lower back has been killing me and I can hardly move ever since.

Then today we went to a doctor appointment for hubby. We’re expecting that he might need shoulder surgery, he has rotator cuff surgery on it 5 years ago and is having some trouble again, especially with numbness and tingling all down his arm. Good news is shoulder is fine except for some arthritis, so no surgery needed there. Bad news is after some more questions and an X-ray, turns out he has SEVERE arthritis in his neck. Several vertebrae eroding, many of them fusing themselves together. Have to go back for an MRI tomorrow since they suspect that is what is pinching the nerves that go down his arm. Which likely will mean he needs neck surgery.

Medical whining tax and other previously owed tax.

Maybe you need to give him a 'Rooster Cave", some place he can go to be recharged after all the hen-pecking! (maybe a place with a keg on tap, and a few ;loose hens; strutting around).

I actually laughed out loud at these posts! I have noticed the first thing he does nearly every morning when I let them out into the run is quietly walk away from all the girls. He spends some time by himself or tries to anyway (they follow him EVERYWHERE) He may indeed want a Rooster man cave especially when they start laying. Cause if he thinks they are overwhelming now bahahaha just wait!! He will be one busy Rooster someday soon.

Straw!!!

I found it I finally found it Ever since it started hinting at winter weather I have been searching for straw. To help insulate and also to mix in for my deep litter, I have heard having a mix of biodegradable material is ideal.

Well, there was none to found anywhere. I looked high and low. Finally found it yesterday at tractor supply in compressed bales.

Today I took the kids out threw some Saturday Lime down on the current layer and put two bales down. The kids had a field day spreading it around coop and watching it decompress. I’ll be picking straw off them for the rest of the day but the chickens should be better insulated against the single digit temperatures that are coming.
