Not any time soon I hope!!

I have opinions on this. I have voiced them before but I will not say anything else right now on the subject. This is my current situation and I do not need karma whispering in any more of my hens ears.

It is 7 out with about 1/4 inch of snow. My weather lied, the S word was not in the forecast. I just went out and opened up the coop. I had locked all 3 momma's and their chicks in it last night and had to have it open early so they would not fight. The good news is now that daylight is breaking I can see Momma hen is at least sheltered from the snow.

Oh that is giving me some hope

Sure hope that the weather aligns with her sitting on the nest. Sheesh! So much worry!

My Princesses have not yet gone indoors but have hunkered down in a sheltered overhang in the run and are watching the storm. Honestly some of these gusts would be enough to blow Diana off her feet!

It was very windy here, I went over to see the horses and the farm is up on a hill and the wind was howling up there!

Wouldn’t know it here, it’s fairly sheltered here.

I was visualizing a true cave of sorts - but that’s barely sheltered. No wonder you are beside yourself with worry oh Rebecca, such a crazy situation. I am really going to think good thoughts for her and you.

Sooooo....I have not mentioned anything the last 2 days. I think details have finally been worked out and I will have 2 surprises sometime tomorrow weather permitting. Delivery was offered so 2 white leghorn girls will join my flock. I sadly had to pass on a legbar girl, with delivery fee they were a bit too pricey right now.

I was supposed to work today (make up for Monday when we are closed,) but it is so icy i decided to wait. Even our city busses decided not to run until 11 today.
The rain we got was more a drizzle so everything is super coated. It is now 30°f supposedly we will reach 50 today, but I am doubtful. Best to stay home rather than risk a slippery drive and maybe an accident. I am glad you are safe.

I too am worried. Tomorrow night looks like the worst for me and am wondering whether to bring my Princesses in for the night. They have the flat panel heater - but that is really not a lot, just like a light bulb, and it is worth nothing if they choose to sleep on the other side.
I will close up the pop door which might help a little.
I am not sure what to do really.

Mine will be outside. They have endured worse. I am concerned because Betty spent the night alone in the Cluckle Hut 2 nights ago for no apparent reason. I need her to be in the Main Coop with everyone else.

They are taking advantage of the heater though. They found its new location fast enough.

They are spending most of their time in the Main Coop as they usually do in cold nasty weather.

If I opened the pop door I am almost 100% certain they would go out into run all the effort and work to give them the most warmth possible and yet there they sit in the draftiest part of the entire coop buried almost neck deep in straw just so they can look outside. Yours have a gorgeous coop and where are they outside in the cold and wind of course! Why???

Look how smart Little Loosey Goosey is. She is in-between Butter who will protect her from the 2 bullies on one side. The other side she has Bubba and he will keep the bully on the other side from pecking her. Branch is directly under her and he will keep the bottom girls from trying to pull her down. Those silkie smarts of hers are starting to shine through.

If she continues to use her brain, and silkie feistiness, one day this little girl could go far in the pecking order. Are we seeing the development of a future Queen in the making?

Look at her little feets, she has the heaviest foot feathering out of the entire flock and is only about 5 months old. I simply adore them.
