You know, being the end of the year and all, people start thinking about getting their things in order for taxes and such...made me think of the expression 'get your ducks in a row'

Well, I came close:

I got all my chickens in rows!:lau:lau
Truly fantastic picture!!
I didn't manage to get drinking pictures today, so here are two from sunday and monday of Blanche who escaped the hawk.
She's a bit of a mess still from the attack and I think the stress got her molting, if that's possible.
She's a brave little thing- she didn't hesitate to go outside and under the laurel tree where the hawk got to her. On the second picture you can see some of the pecks on her eyes and ears. I'm a bit worried that she still seems in pain even though they were very superficial and have healed well, I hope there wasn't internal damage.

She's the craziest smallest of our ex-batt, and she has already made it through quite a few issues, I would be very happy if she heals up.
My partner finds it ironic that this hawk that will eat chicken's brain, got our one hen that doesn't have a brain 🤦‍♀️🙄!

Oh no :( I am so glad she is ok!
Dear Aurora,
I think you know I am a HUGE FAN - and although I can never have a beard like yours, I consider you a role model.
I have heard my human servant talk about wanting more chickens. She often has fanciful ideas (like asking me to sit on her lap) so at first I just ignored it. But she has now said it several times and so I am getting worried.
What does she want with more chickens? Surely I am magnificent enough to make other chickens un-necessary? I enclose a recent picture so you can confirm that I am indeed magnificent.
Also, I still have my work cut out for me ensuring that I get the prime roost spot each night and I only have to battle dear Diana for that spot. I cannot contemplate needing to handle more than Diana. Honestly, it is exhausting just to think about!
I think I have to stop this whole idea before it gets out of hand. How can I get my servant thinking on more constructive lines like providing more treats instead of this more chickens nonsense?
Yours in complete awe of your achievements,
Bernadette

I’m a huge fan of Monty Python. Ana they don’t use chickens, only sparrows and killer rabbits!

Oreo update:
The big spot I am now almost certain is indeed a bite. Now that the skin is showing through more that beak shaped mark is pretty undeniable. Idk which girl he ticked off but wow, I do hope he takes the not so subtle hint.

The very tips of his comb in the back do look like they have some frostbite spots but thankfully they appear very small.

Dear Bernadette,

I think you are very pretty, I am not sure why your Human would even think of any more chickens! How can she think that any others can compare!

My Human tells me I am beautiful all the time, but then she tells the other ladies they are also beautiful. I don’t think she knows what she is talking about! How can we all be beautiful!

On the other hand if your Human got more chickens you could be the Queen Chicken - and that could mean some opportunities for you! Maybe this would be a good thing!

Stay strong!
Yours truly,

Wee Marty

Oh yes, very clear. You could get prints off that beak-mark to identify the culprit!

Such beauties 😊

Little Loosey Goosey just had me laughing until it hurt. My neighbor and Rosie's best friend Maddy has 7 little dogs inside. 6 chihuahua's and 1 tiny maybe 2lb if soaking wet chi x terrier mix. The little mix lulu is a escape artist and when she gets out poor Maddy has to chase her all over the neighborhood. I'm doing the dishes watching chicken tv out my kitchen window, everyone, including the boys were out there. I see Lulu sneaking around the back yard and then she starts mingling with the chickens. Now I have absolutely zero fear of this dog attacking the chickens, she has never bothered them at all. Goose spots her and stops eating. She then starts stalking her from behind getting closer. Lulu notices her and starts to walk away and Goose full on attacked her. I saw her chase Lulu out of sight with the poor pup shrieking. A few minutes later Maddy came knocking on my door. Goose chased her up onto her porch. The escape artist who never wants to be caught was begging to be let in. When they opened the door Goose was still in hot pursuit and chased her inside. Maddy had a very proud and squawking Goose in her arms. It is official the rest of my hens had better watch out, this tiny spitfire is going places when she is older.
