@rural mouse 's pear is a partridge colour. It is brown with multiple 'lacing' layers of black, making it look almost like chevrons.

So the color is Partridge - but the link is to Partridge Rocks. Is that just short hand for
Breed = Barred Rock; Color = Partridge? Or is it Breed = Partridge Rock?
Or is it Breed = Rock and Rocks come in colors such as Barred and Partridge?
I swear to you I am not entirely stupid, but somehow I always get confused.

Oooh - I consulted the guide and I think the answer is:
Breed = Plymouth Rock
Color options: Barred; Black, Buff, Columbian, White, Silver Pencilled, and Partridge.
Now that makes sense to me.
Did I get it?

My second is that it would help me if you sometimes gave me the official color/breed when posting a chicken picture. I think I am a visual learner.

We are close to the source of my mass confusion about breeds .... Not all breeds come in all colors right?
Clearly Leghorns come in lots of colors (per the guide), and I know Orpingtons come in several colors. But it looks like RIR only come in one color.
What about others? Are there silver duckwing barred rocks for example?

Yes, many breeds come in lots of colors - especially lately people are into breeding for different colors. Regarding the Rhode Island Red, the color is in their name, so they don't 'really' come in another color. There is a white version called the Rhode Island White....just to confuse you more - it isn't another breed, it is just a different coloring.

Almost!

Breed = Plymoth Rock, color is partridge, so called a partridge rock.

A barred Rock is a barred plymoth rock. Breed = Plymouth rock, Barred = coloring

Yes, I have gotten some - I talk to the guys directly when they are working in my area. I've been lucky, haven't had to use a site. one full load lasts me a year/season.
