Fluffy Butt Friday

Good morning all! It’s a balmy -14C here this morning, just getting ready for work.

But I did manage to capture a couple of fluffy derrières yesterday - who can identify these lovely Butts?

Those look like Glynda and Lady F's fluffy bums. Have you been spying?!

That bump on Coco is distressing her and she scratched it last night. I am going to put some antibiotic ointment on it (after I get some) all I have is Vetericyn + spray.
right now, she just wants to snuggle up with me.
The bump looks to me like an infected peck or scratch, but I don’t know.
Any chance you could get her in to see a vet?

My nerves are shot.
They definitely found it harder to come down from those rafters inside the coop.
I resolved that if they weren’t down by 8:30am (an hour after normal wake-up) that I would brave using a ladder and a shovel handle.
Just before 8am Babs came down.
She flew through the open door to the run (thank goodness I thought to open it up last night just in case). That gave her 27’ of runway and she used every inch of it.
It was like standing by the runway when a 747 comes in to land. Quite an experience!
No sign of Eli.
Babs went straight back into the coop and up on the big roost and talked Eli down.
Eli used the helicopter method - going more or less vertically down to the main roost with a lot of flapping. She missed and kept on down getting herself tangled in one of the ladders on the way. Not very elegant but she seems unharmed.
Here are the two of them recovering from their experience and I am back indoors asking myself if it is inappropriate for me to have a nip of whisky with breakfast to help me calm down.

I am not going to interfere in their roosting tonight!
Maybe your first mistake was naming Eli after a stunt pilot! :gig

got a movie and photos and 3 eggs today! Summer and Dottie sat on my lap the whole time and nested and talked to me.

Oh, looks like your Brahma girl is getting a lot of attention from the boys. Is she lower in the pecking order? I have to say, they are very pretty! ❤️❤️❤️ Much prettier than I thought dark Brahmas would be...I have light brahmas (and have always drooled over the buff colored ones...but they are much more expensive than the light!), and had never really considered the dark before.

When I got my first chicks, one of my Black Australorps had a growth near one of her eyes. They were approximately 3 days old...? when I got them.

This is the only picture I have, and it's not very clear. It's the black spot with a white ring around it near the back of her eye.

It eventually fell off. I never did know what it was.
