Again, do we have a betting pool started on how many chicks are going to accidentally happen yet? šŸ˜‚ I think it is a foregone conclusion with the addition of Mr P, the sneaky egg hiders, the broody bunch, and the barely contained enthusiasm for Chickies a of ā€œmethinks the lady doth protest too muchā€ @Ponypoor 🤣

Prayers for our neighbor. He lost his wife in November and today he had a nervous breakdown. He was taken away in an ambulance mid morning. We kept waiting for his son to come care for the puppies but I guess he was still with his dad. Lety has a key from where she cleans the house so she fed the outside dog and brought home the 2 small inside dogs. They are quiet dogs so far and are relaxing on the sofa with Lety. I sent a text to his phone to say not to worry about the pups. I hope God grants peace for Steve.
I’m glad he has good neighbours to care for his dogs while he is recovering, and that he has family to help him through as well. Prayers for Steve. It never ceases to amaze me what good folks this thread has brought together. If you have his son’s contact you may want to let him know about the pups being taken care of as well (sometimes they don’t let you keep your phone on you in hospitals here, but it might be different down your way)

So I don’t want to hatch eggs, too much risk getting Roos - don’t want to have to deal with freezer camp ever again I😢

But I would entertain getting day old chicks from a local hatchery 🄰

I have been checking out the chickens at this one place and I would love to get some if I can swing matching getting chicks with broody crazy hens!

EDIT: day old pullets! Sexed pullets!

You are a good neighbour ā¤ļø

Sure hope he feels better soon.

That is metal roofing for the big coop. I'm going to try and get it on tomorrow before e have any big snows. Wish me luck. This is my first time working with metal roofing.

It is unpainted so Mrs BY Bob can choose any color she wishes for the roof. Plus it was $10 cheaper per piece unpainted. That will buy a gallon of paint. I paid more for those three pieces of metal than all the wood used to build the coop the first time.
One thing with the screws. They can work their way out. I know it's possible to set them in so they don't, but I don't know what the technique is. Worth it for the longevity of the roof.

Pre drill the holes where you wish to put the screw in, and put the screws in the ridge not the valley so you lessen the risk of water.

Lastly did you get the screws with the rubber washer on them? To make it more water resistant?

Yep metal roofing is expensive but it will last a good 30 or more years!
