Yes, I was looking at “small farm” organic (don’t know what that means but it was Pete & Gerry’s) and these, and thought, if I apparently have to choose, it’s more important to me that the hens don’t have a cruel life. Hmm, will look into this more.Yes. That is the Certified Humane symbol you should look for.
It is the symbol of the independent group that certifies how the chickens live. One thing I find encouraging is that availability of Certified Humane eggs has increased - it used to be only one grocery store near me, now it is in several. You can also see the label on things like mayonnaise.
Here is the link to the group that certifies them - as you can see it is a pretty low bar relative to the lives all our chickens live and they have plans to raise the bar which would be great.
