Just got home from a all day dr appointment with grandma. As soon as I drink this cup of coffee going to go sneak out and check to see what Goose is up to. Sneak is the key word here. Mom does not know what I am planning. I literally made it 1 day shy of Chiquita's eggs hatching last summer before she noticed she was broody. I think I can top that this year.

I'm tempted to say that right there is one broody momma I would never reach under. Who am I kidding, I would. I risk bodily harm every time I reach under Momma Hen when she is broody, that owl has nothing on her.
I just love the hooting mixed in with the broody noises! :love

She is not in her nest, but there are now 5 eggs. Actually there was 6 eggs, one of her friends is deciding to help her along. I marked the 5th egg and removed the imposter egg. If she is going to hatch I do not want to wonder "Who is your mother". I also stated I would give her 4, now there is 5. This girl needs to hurry up and sit before I break over and let her sit on a dozen.

I picked Hector out of a straight run at the feed store....looking for a roo. All I had to go on was stance, but he kept standing and looking around with the chest up and out. I think we stood there and watched the chicks for a good 20 min. The brahmas and the susses were all supposed to be pullets, and we watched them for a bit too (if I'd seen roo stances with any of those, I probably would NOT have gotten Hector, but that chick instead. The ones listed as pullets all looked/moved like pullets.View attachment 3410577@2-2.5 weeks
