The new girls on the block are getting big. When everyone is together it is getting difficult to tell them apart at times. They are just over 4 1/2 months old and their faces are coloring up. I predict all 4 will be laying by the end of March which is really not that far away. If I had to guess, Grackle will be my first new layer of that group.
I tried to get a picture of Grackle, but she was on the move, there are birds to chase after all. Even though it is blurry, you can see she is getting in her comb and wattles.

Ducky was a little more cooperative. She is the smallest of the 4 and I think will be the last of that group to lay.

Then we have the big momma of the group Perdita. She has 2 favorite hobbies. Eating and sleeping.

Meko was off doing her own thing with Twig and some of the other hens. I will have to track her down later.
Ducky reminds me of Whiskers with her blue colour but red head feathers :)

Oh Perdita is getting lovely! And such a fluffy derriere! she sure is a beauty!

I think that first photo is a '6' for synchronized Fluffy Butt Strutting :)

Never mind all this talk about Tina, what about me the royal princess.

I laid a tiny egg the other day, it was better than Tina's egg :tongue

Hi Beautiful Princess - I bet that egg was special!

Perdita is not a black chicken, she is a green chicken. Looking at her it is no wonder that I think my black ones are the prettiest.
Under different lighting, that green turns purple and sometimes blue.
Yes iridescent - so lovely - she sure is a chunky girl - or is that all feathers?
And here I thought the proper way to apply was by throwing it with your feet....like this...View attachment 3415682
Is that Thing? fluffing around in the dirt.... ?

You should. Their namesake chased them off...
Guess I owe SHRA tax hahaha!
 Bob for goodness sake you are worse than the taxman, do I have to remind you that it's Caturday.

Well to be fair - we all helped her name Grackle :)
She matches her namesakes beautifully.

Today was lazy. Didn't get started until 2, but fixed our pop door and improved the ramp and fixed the latch on the shed door, so now our girls can be properly locked in if we're away. (And the expensive lawn equipment...but what's more important?) Then we moved the little coop they used when they were still little. Underneath, henbit is growing thick! I guess it's from me tossing it in to them. Pulled it up for a tasty treat...the girls especially we're very pleased!

Just because, here's Manny, surveying his harem from the perch we put in the run.

And since it's Caturday... this is my dearly departed Boo. I miss her.
