It’s terrible how humans breed such terrible genetic traits into animals.
But oh so wonderful that she was able to have loving family.

That was so lovely of that lady too rescue the three. I would have wanted more, even though they didn't have long they had a little life in their garden.Something to be Thankful for...

She loooks lovely as long as she is eating and active I wouldn’t worry. My older girls will lay for a week or so, then slow down then get back to an increase in eggs… but they are active and eating so I just go with the flow….That was so lovely of that lady too rescue the three. I would have wanted more, even though they didn't have long they had a little life in their garden.
I'm so grateful Tina had lived with me for 18 months now, so she is now 3 years old. She stopped laying this past week I'm hoping this doesn't mean she will leave me soon I just want her living happily with princess grumpy
After that rant, you drop Marty on us too! Shame on youI am tempted to take her out in the paddocks in my truck and get her used to driving 4x4 her truck is only 2 wheel drive and just summer tires.
I would feel more comfortable if she knew how to drive my truck with aggressive tread snow/mud tires and 4 wheel drive. Of course if she got the bug to drive my truck she will be out in the pits 4x4’ing hahaha!!

She also wishes it to be known that Branch is HER rooster. The two of them were inseparable yesterday. He showed her every nest spot and this morning she chose the nest in the coop that he kept taking her to yesterday. She also allowed him to breed her. Bubba tried yesterday evening around roosting time and instead of submitting she turned and attacked him then ran to have Branch escort her to the roost in the coop. I cannot tell you how happy this makes me and hope it continues. Branch has so few hens who actually like him. The Cochin girls love him, but they are just to big for him. He was successful yesterday with Perdita.
It's looking much better already. No it’s a British Detective Drama set in the Caribbean. On a fictitious island called St Marie - set in present day. There always a Detective Inspection from the UK posted with the local police who helps solve murders.

Well curly is sort of in the nest box I stuffed her in hahaha - guess she is not interested in being broody!!
But I think Buttercup, Fluffy and Marty can be convinced to be broody.

We skipped summer altogether. Cheetah, Nellie, Pippa, and Twirp are all under the deck by the woodpile. They were the only ones willing to brave the snow.Wow crazy weather, it is just not warming up here anytime soon. Planting will be delayed herethe farmers won’t be happy.

At any rate she will be likely coming to my place.
There is no way other than x-ray. They are all born with holes in their skulls which should close on their own. It is very important that they not mix with bigger chickens until their holes close as one gentle peck in the head can be fatal. They are usually closed by 4 weeks.Good heavens! I did not know thisanother thing to worry about ! Ok so no pecking on heads in that case
how does one check for this anomaly in one’s chickens?
