She wishes to inform everyone that as of this morning she has officially joined the working girls.

She also wishes it to be known that Branch is HER rooster. The two of them were inseparable yesterday. He showed her every nest spot and this morning she chose the nest in the coop that he kept taking her to yesterday. She also allowed him to breed her. Bubba tried yesterday evening around roosting time and instead of submitting she turned and attacked him then ran to have Branch escort her to the roost in the coop. I cannot tell you how happy this makes me and hope it continues. Branch has so few hens who actually like him. The Cochin girls love him, but they are just to big for him. He was successful yesterday with Perdita.

No it’s a British Detective Drama set in the Caribbean. On a fictitious island called St Marie - set in present day. There always a Detective Inspection from the UK posted with the local police who helps solve murders.

Well curly is sort of in the nest box I stuffed her in hahaha - guess she is not interested in being broody!!
But I think Buttercup, Fluffy and Marty can be convinced to be broody.

Check out Mr P lounging full length along the top of the nestbox! He was sound asleep stretched out there ! I think once I get that’s shelving across there it will work nicely!

Yes Polish have vaulted skulls. That's what makes the feathers on their heads stand up. Legertha died because there was a hole in her's that did not close, it is not real unusual for that to happen.

Good heavens! I did not know this another thing to worry about ! Ok so no pecking on heads in that case how does one check for this anomaly in one’s chickens?

Good plans! And your mom is adorable.

Yes she is hilarious, and big worry as she does stuff that freaks me out, she will be 76 on Monday and is planning on driving up to Orillia to the Casino that is over an hr away, it’s stilll winter here and up there it snow squalls at the drop of a hat! But like she said, if it snows she willl check into the resort.

And she has those chickens all spoilt rotten, they see her and they go running as they know she has some lovely treats for them - rice mashed potatoes corn meat finish pasta Kraft dinner…. I had to tell her to lay off the treats! But I guess it won’t hurt - as I said it’s still really cold here so extra calories will keep them warm.

Amazing!!! I am getting about three or four eggs a day. But I only have three hens under gour years old and only Roxy is laying of the over six year olds.

Are you still planning on getting chicks? Or has that plan been kiboshed??

Doctor is well aware of my medical history and condition

Alex you HAVE TO get your blood pressure under control. Even if that means getting a new doctor.

My husband is on two blood pressure medications (or actually three since one of them is a combination of two meds). Our doctor gave him another prescription for one he can take any time his blood pressure spikes. It does that sometimes if he gets too much sodium or is extra stressed.
