Oh poor wee gal - how did she do that? These chickens are very stressful!

I have found out my flock has Mareks. I feel so horrible.

Good morning everyone. I have 7 out so far. 1 is very weak and had difficulty hatching. It also did not fully absorb the yolk sack so I have it by itself in a little plastic bowl to see if it will finish absorbing. Time will tell, but, I am very worried about it. I snapped a real quick picture while I was removing the egg shells and separating the chick.

I can only dream of Roses.... it was -7C this morning here, and more snow on the way.

Here is a good sign, green grass under the old hay, the chooks are quick to scratch the hay away and eat the green shoots of grass.

I got the final lab testing results from Dixie (the one with tumors) and they found out she had Mareks. The others being sick sort of match up with this information.

I got a bucket of weeds out of the garden for the chickens today. I'm sure I owe some tax, so here's a picture of Stormy being very smart. She's standing on the clump of grass so that she can peck bits off of it.

The 2nd cochin mix just hatched. It is still very wet, but, unmistakably blue. I'm telling myself as far as I know these chicks are sold, these chicks are sold. Someone stop me from trying something. I've kept it quite, but Raven is broody and has been for a little over a week now. She is sitting on nothing. She took a chick last year after only sitting for a week. I want to rush out right now and give her the goose chick and this little blue one.

I think your mistaken, she must have wanted the new trending “grass feathered feet” style all the other chickens are getting. What a cutie.
