The headcount...repeat headcount....who's missing? Name count....who did I miss? Repeat name count with mental list held up to check off each name....followed by "wait...that's all of them! Who was hiding and snuck in when I wasn't looking!" And another headcount just to make sure. All present.

No idea what that's like.....

Looks like this will be a favorite lounging spot this summer.

Will have to make sure the hole under the water spigot has a good tub in it and keep that filled.

I just do. Abeille was SOOO hard I had to try at least 5 times before I got that pic. Apollo wasn't that hard because he is very good at posing for the camera. Abeille-not so much.

I swear they do this just to worry me.
This morning I touch down at 5am after the redeye flight from LAX.
First thing I do is check my chicken cameras knowing that all I will see is Bernie because I can’t get a camera to see up into the rafters where the Math Majors roost.
Imagine my shock when this is what I see.

This raises many questions:
How did little Eli get the most favored roost spot where she can warm her tush against the flat panel heater?
What is her bodyguard, Babs, watching so intently?
And, WHERE IS BERNADETTE??? I mean she is a big chicken to lose sight of!
I check all the cameras and there is no sign of her.
By this stage my mind has gone to every dark place and I am getting quite upset.
I search the feeds from the cameras for the night and finally find one that shows her marching into the nest boxes at about midnight.
And indeed, that is where I found her. Sitting peacefully on her newly laid egg and a ceramic egg.
Wait, what? That ceramic egg had been disposed of by Babs. Where did it come from?
Yet another mystery from the night.
No worries, Bernie is large and in charge as ever.

not so far. Ponypoor isn't the only one with horses either. Rebecca has a horse that lets the chickens nap on his back, lay eggs in his stall, and will stand guard over them while they run around his feet. I think one of her hens is brooding a nest in the corner of his stall (or just outside it) right now. The interactions between species is fascinating to see.

Pangoo the devil child, he was huge almost as tall as my mum, and would thrill in attacking her, then he started attacking me

Which is why I was terrified to get Mr P. But thankfully he is a gem
