Woohoo my iPhone works again on BYC!

Ok gotta do chores 💕 good morning everyone!

2 roos (1 attempting to court and 1 enforcing "the girls said no")

2 birds: 1 courting, 1 asking if she needs to be more emphatic in her no (he got pecked, with feathers pulled)

2 birds sunning, 1 keeping watch too.

Ravens have been circling about, looking for a good nest site. The boys (all of them) have been sounding the alarm about them. They sounded off and the girls headed for the trees when the turkey vulture swept in low (I was out with them). I went in search of the direction the vulture was headed. The ravens were on it and I caught glimpses of the dogfight. The vulture wanted NONE of it. I think the ravens are settling into the trees the red-tailed hawks like to use (good, the hawks will have to go elsewhere).

Mugshot Monday.

Today I found Parmesan acting a little weird. More like her leg was acting weird.

She was hopping on one foot and then she suddenly had pain in both of her legs and from there, she refuses to stand up. I would leave her alone for 30 minutes to an hour, then a few hours and after that she still stays in the same spot.

AND GRANDMA REFUSES TO STOP CRYING!!!
She really wants to go outside but we were busy today so we couldn't. Stop crying. There's always tomorrow.

How is Mozzarella today? Could she possibly have a broken leg?

Momma hen pushed me to my breaking point today and she has found herself in chicken jail. She is broody and ready to sit as of today. The problem, she wants to take over Gryffyns nest and eggs. No no no no you evil old bat, Gryffyn is doing too good of a job. First I moved her and 2 eggs to the coop and showed her a place she could sit and locked it up. Not good enough, she threw a fit all day long. I had to open up the coop at dark so everyone could go in to roost. What does she do, runs right by me and straight for Gryffyn. By the time I get to them I catch her with a beak full of her neck feather's with her trying to haul her off her eggs. I grab Momma who protested, and go get the dog kennel. I put the kennel near the hay pile so it is covered. Stuff hay in it, cover it over all the while holding a angry hen. Shove in Momma and grab 2 orp eggs I had yet to collect. I Place the egg inside with her in the nest I had made for her. If she wants to sit, she can sit there. If not, you can stay in jail until you are broke from being broody you ole bat.
Wow she is a determined to have her way! But good for Gryffyn staying put! Oh I am hoping she is an awesome mama 🥰

How is Momma today? Is she accepting your location you have plopped her into?

What do think about my showing a few of my gals the babies and seeing any of them will think of taking them on?? I have noted that Marty, Fluffy, and Henny have roosted in the nest boxes and not pooped in them. I found that only the broodies do this (not poop in the box). It’s hilarious the size of the poop Marty delivers in the morning!!

They are very interested when I play the sound of the chicks, Marty and Fluffy will go sit on their eggs, but they won’t stay put darn it! But I wonder once the actual chicks arrive if they will get serious and brood the little suckers!

Thoughts anyone??

FYI I have a pick up date/time of Thursday at 1pm.

I'll post my opinion...and pay even more tax:

Head first. Should be a humane death - quick and as painless as possible.

Eating the legs first is equivalent to torture - that is SOOOO not right!

Legs first, then the head! Can’t have them running off headless!

Photos I have from yesterday

I'm going to see how far I get reading it. I wanted to finish a book, but this thread was more entertaining.
Yes, I have 7. And pictures. What's with the tax thing? The primer isn't clear enough for my sleepy braing to comprehend.
My phone doesn't want to let me attach any (I'm using Samsung DeX, maybe that's the issue, on normal mode I can attach pictures).
I was having a lot of issues yesterday with attaching photos and posting comments, today though it’s fine go figure.

Today is Two fee Tuesday- we post photos of 2 of our chickens

This is not fair, as there are sooooo many options:

But, okay, I'll play
Axiom
Measure

Probably not the ones, though, as it is accurate, but not funny.
It was not meant to be funny. It's based on a question asked to regular folk on a game show.

Measure is right. Want to try for the other?
