It's looking like your already setting up a defence against Mr Fox, you don't hang around

They both seem okay, but I am a little concerned about my Tina, she's laying soft eggs...I got her some goats yogurt today, ( it is the last time I'll be able to get it from our store ), but she's eating well and busy all day. She enjoyed the yogurt with egg and green salad rocket. Soft shell is a worry

Blanche laid soft shell eggs last year, drove me crazy!

But I figured I would just let her be as she was thriving otherwise.

This year's she has started back laying and the eggs are ok, so far!

I have chicks gonna hatch too! Already have an internal pip. My guess is that most chicks will hatch overnight and in the morning I'm going to have an explosion of chicks.
Even though I HATE going to town, I am so glad that my eyesight is all good. Just a touch nearsighted in my left eye.
Can't wait for little chickies to hatch!

Can't wait to see pics - I am just catching up.

Make sure it's rat proof in either location.

Can rats fit through a 1" opening?

I have the crate in the super stall, and was going to leave it there if possible...

She is doing well, pretty much back to normal, doing all the chickeny things. I think today is Day 10 of antibiotics and will be her last day.

She did lose weight though. When I weighted her for dose, she was 3.3 kg (7.3 lbs). She is lighter now when I pick her up, but I don't know her current weight. She was too fat to be honest.

So glad to hear she is feeling better

Have you told your mom yet about the impending chick invasion?


You could try tucking a chick under when they are sitting on their nest and then observe closely. Being prepared to intervene, of course. Not sure if the will try when the chicks are penned up.

Nope! But will tomorrow... And hopefully she won't count them as I am getting the other chicks on the weekend haha!

Did I test a hen with the chick?

Yep! And Curly told me to buzz off! Henny Penny was quite interested and hopped up into the crate, checked them out drank some their water and hopped out...if she had made any clucking sounds at all I would have tried her as she has raised chicks before....

Guess Aunt Kelly will be mama hen.

I have a bunch a girls in my classes talking shi- bad about me. They are calling me clingy and annoying. I get it, maybe I am. The one was caught v@ping last week, and I was simply talking about her vaping to my friends who also dislike her. They wouldn't tell on me to her. One who I wrote a note to, telling her to stop spreading false rumors about me, told her all these lies that I was calling her a (Female Dog) which I wasn't. The vaping one came up to me just minutes ago, as I was just scrolling on here, since I am done with my work. She started yelling at me, and I looked her in the eyes and said, "I am only talking crap about you, because you are talking crap about me. I never called you a (Female Dog), but I was talking bad about you. Stop talking bad about me, and I will stop." She got so mad She went," I am only calling you clingy and annoying because you are, and stop talking abut me." I looked at her and replied, "I know that I am clingy and annoying. You aren't going to change me." Then she stormed off. I am going to post tax when I get home. Sorry about the language, I just need to get my anger out. I am about to go talk to her again I think. Wish me luck to not be killed.

Ok so all I have to say is let it go, in the grand scheme of things this is but a blip in time.

Now I am thinking about bbq chips and how much I want a Plymouth Rock hen.

Comb to cold wise, you're better off with the Dominiques. I had one. Sadly, she was killed by a marauding dog (along with 5 of her mates, Mama Hen, and Rusty (my profile pic). She was a curious sweetheart and secured Dominiques as one of my favorite breeds.
